It’s back to school season, and that means Bears Ears Partnership is busy providing outdoor education to local schools. Earlier this month, we hosted our first field trip of the new school year, bringing the 4th grade classes of Montezuma Creek Elementary to Devil’s Canyon.

This past week, our second meeting of Dark Sky Ambassadors had perfectly dark skies with a brilliant arcing Milky Way, a scattering of meteors, telescope viewing of Saturn and her moons, and constellation tours.

We are delighted to hear the recent news that The Town of Bluff, Utah has been officially designated as an International Dark Sky Community by @darkskyintl.bsky.social! This designation makes Bluff the only community to receive the Dark Sky designation in San Juan County, and the sixth in Utah.

Our Education team has been busy! Back in May, the Bears Ears Education Center had the pleasure of hosting Ed Kabotie, artist/musician/educator from the Tewa village of Khap'o Owinge (Santa Clara Pueblo in Northern New Mexico).
