Also remember when Research Rabbit said it would be free forever? Finding literature without database access is difficult. Really hope the BL get access to databases back soon.

Trying to access articles when not in academia is very time consuming. I look forward to the day when library researchers embrace open access.

I am so quiet here these days. I'm immersed in the new job. 6 months in feeling settled and happy. I had a request to peer review an today which I accepted. I also had a nudge to re-submit my article and I set a deadline so now I will get it done.

LIS folks who are more familiar with UX approaches - what is a good activity for gathering user stories around an e-learning platform? I could run online focus groups but I thought maybe a UX task would elicit more useful info. However, I've only used the love letter task before.

In this new job, I'm reading so much grey literature. Most of it I find on LinkedIn as soon as it comes out. I also watch live streams of Think Tanks discussing their reports on LinkedIn. I'm still reading journal articles but my axis has shifted somewhat.

Going through my peer review ahead of meeting my mentor tomorrow. In a nutshell: Reviewer 1 - Loved it Reviewer 2 - Felt it was a paper of 2 halves. Would prefer 2 papers. Wants the lit review to have more discussion of the poetry but was happy with the practitioner research section 1/2 #LISresearch

Lack of access to academic databases is an interesting challenge. Lack of advanced searching in OpenAlex is rather limiting. I'm having to make do as best I can to locate useful material. Open access publications are great but first you have to find them!

Not quite sure what to do about my submitted journal article. Website says standard timeframe for peer review is 10-12 weeks. It's been 18 weeks. I emailed the editor 2 weeks ago for an update in case my novel method was causing an issue. No response yet. #LISresearch

While I was on holiday, my research data was approved for the archive and the embargo added as requested. I'm ready to transition to my new job.

Slight issue with my upload of data. In the participant information form, I said a 3 year embargo period. But Reshare only allow a 12 month embargo period. So what do I do? Wait two years before uploading it? #LISresearch I have contacted their helpdesk.

Ok I've finished anonymising transcripts. Hopefully tomorrow I can upload to a data repository. But first I have to do more some more admin around this. Research involves a lot of admin. #LISresearch

Just finished anonymising transcript 2 from Participant 2. It shrunk by more than half. Really difficult to untangle stuff about a person's role and their method. The challenge of identifiablity in longitudinal qualitative research. So now one final transcript left to do. #LISresearch

A few tears this morning after my line manager's manager (who was for a long time my manager) sent me the loveliest farewell email. I am going to miss all the amazing people at UH.

I've now anonymised the transcripts for Participant 3. So I've got Participant 2 and Participant 4 to work through which equals 5 narrative transcripts to anonymise before I leave this role after Christmas. #LISresearch

The spine poem competition has closed. We had 23 entries and a total of 36 poems. Really pleased to have evidenced 1) interest in creative activities 2) feasibility of implementation.

Yes to the measure of student loan settlement schemes. I don't like the word forgiveness. That seems to imply some sort of guilt. But the idea of student nurses' and AHP loans being paid off for each year in NHS, I am on board!

Been working on my handover notes today and hopefully helping my successor have a good transition into this role.

I am going on a one day colour theory course next week with the Royal West of England Academy. We have to share a piece of colourful art that we like. Exciting! Last night we were working on ekphrastic poetry. My creative endeavours are interweaving.

I taught my last in module session this morning. The students so lovely and they worked so hard to develop their searching knowledge. Happy!

Finished anonymising the transcripts from Participant 1. This is interesting. I told my Participant towards the end of the interview that I would be writing the methods paper for me. It's the one thing I haven't prioritised. I guess the book chapter had a pressing deadline. But I should ponder this.

Scary moment when a password protected transcript doesn't open with the password you wrote in the research data management log. Thankfully, I was able to open the file I had re-ordered during analysis and revert to the original version. I guess I must have mistyped when I created the password.
