Adams defined government's purpose as Security for every citizen. Jefferson called Life unalienable. Neither man envisioned a corporation standing between a dying patient and their doctor — extracting profit from pain. They would have called that robbery.

Capitalism vs Socialism is a false choice invented after the Founders died. Jefferson never said capitalism. Adams never said socialism. They said General Welfare. Ease, Comfort, Security - in a word Happiness, to the greatest number. Stop fighting over their labels. Demand their outcomes.

The 'Pursuit of Happiness' in the Declaration has a definition. John Adams wrote it in 1776: ease, comfort, and security. You were never taught that. Ask yourself why.

In October of 1785 Jefferson wrote Madison that enormous inequality produces misery, and proposed exempting the poor from taxation while taxing higher wealth in geometrical progression as it rises. That's not socialism. That's Jefferson. In a letter. To Madison. Look it up.
