I just replayed Miniatures by @othertales.bsky.social and it really is one of the most beautiful video game experiences I’ve had in a long time. Only takes about thirty minutes to finish. Well worth the price of entry I cannot praise it enough. Especially “familiar”

One of the main challenges of Miniatures was to create four different art styles in one game 🦎🐚🪛🦋 Each style had to be unique but all of them also had to be unified in one whole experience.

This character was an important early step towards the final character design in Journey. I designed it before the game was greenlit, in the first weeks of the project. Elements of it stuck around until the end, and it helped define the art direction. I'll share a bit about it in this thread.
