#AthCon4 has sooooooo many things to get excited about; RPGs, LARP, awesome vendors, creative workshops, mesmerising panels, talk, merch and so much more! It's hard to pick out one thing....but THE NEVER ENDING GORY table has me super-excited! What is this? I hear you all ask. Well attend I say..

So when the dust had finally settled on AthCon3 the committee members met and discussed #AthCon4. "Let's make it bigger and better!" they said. "Bigger and better then the greatest Con ever! Are you having a laugh??" I said. "No!" they shrieked, "but we are having a LARP!" Much hilarity ensued.

Well wonder no more as GM Gavin is offering you the chance to party at the Festival of the Gods in honor of Freyja, Freyr and Sol. I think we can assume that at some stage festivities get a tad out of hand but you're 20th Level, what have you really got to worry about? ;-)

I think this may be the last RPG game tweet, LARPs will follow when I catch my breath! Having gone thru over 100 games (madness!!) it is maybe fitting that the last one is from my very first GM! I won't embarrass either of us with the 'when' but can tell you that the year began with a 19!!

GM Declan, he of D8 Dungeon fame, invites us all to his Session 4 game (that's Sunday 10am) In Memoriam using the We Have Lost game system. The Empress is dead. Her closest friends and confidants have gathered to remember her. Tales are told of the past but the Empire must look to the future.

Not all ghosts are friendly. And very few of them dance. In GM Emmett's CAIN system game we get a ghost that does neither. In CAIN you play part of an elite team tasked with hunting down supernatural beings that have gone bad. This one is the spirit of a gambler, dragging others down with him!

Victor Frankenstein's wife to be is worried about his recent behaviour. On top of that there are rumours of a strange creature haunting the city, a city that is struggling to contain a cholera plague. Yeah things are just going swimmingly! Frankenstein is GM Graham's Deathbringer game for session6

I'm not fully sure what the librarians working in the library floating on a cloud in GM Jude's 4th level 5e D&D game look like. But i think there's a fair chance they look like these dudes! We're Going Up, Up, Up! is a Sunday morning, session 4, offering where it's safe to say to expect minis!

Sunday 6pm is sadly the last session of #AthCon4 but GM Neil rounds of his own marathon of gaming, panels and workshops with Shadowy Scoundrels, a Fey Earth games! Various premises have been broken into and their owners have grown tired waiting for the law to find the culprits! So they hired you!

I've played enough games to know that when some mysterious employer hires you to transport an equally mysterious box from one location to another to know that you should never, ever look inside. I've also played enough to know that when such occurs someone (ie me) will always look in said box.

Some games describe themselves and GM Tomas's game is a prefect example! First off the system used is the brilliantly titled F.I.ST. (Freelance Infantry Strike Team). And secondly the game is called Operation BUZZKILL. My feeling is that this is very much what it says on the tin! ;-)

Oh No!! Something is off in the town of Ashbridge. There is an energy sapping aura hanging around, conversations stalls mid sentence, memories seem to be fading even as faces start to blur around the edges. Suspicion seems to be focused on Greywarden Books and those that frequent it!

So 24 hours ago you left the bleak mining colony settlement of Hope (some would argue an optimistic name!) to run a routine survey only to be forced back after due to weather and mechanical issues. Comms seem garbled with a lot of screaming then silence and no one is about to offer a tow back...

So when a very wealthy and quite elderly collector contacts you with an offer of three days work for a decent payout it sounds like easy money. Three days work; three simple tasks and a healthy paycheck, sounds too good to be true. And as this is Call of Cthulhu it probably is..

GM Mike rocks up at #AthCon4 with his Beatle pun-heavy Battle Born game; Yesterday (A Day in the Life). Kids, The Beatles are a band from many moons ago. Not bad. Had a few hits. I couldn't possible compete with GM Mike's puns, honestly be needs Help. Plus I'd only end up bugging him.

GM Neil's Saturday evening offering involves a Leprechaun. Now these little guys aren't always the easiest folk to deal with, tending more to the belligerent and cantankerous side of things than the happy go lucky here's my pot of gold side that we often see portrayed!

GM Amy came along to the Con last year and had such a laugh that is coming back to #AthCon4 to run a game! In The Curse of the Necropolis, (an 8th Level 5e game), the players are tasked with returning an artifact to the temple of The Order of Everlasting Life. But Necropolis hides dark secrets

So us it wise to go a raidin to the temple cultists of the Emperor? Do the potential rewards outweigh the risk? Is the Emperor a forgiving man? Can you ration with Cultists? Are you better off just staying at home?? We've checked in the book and the answer to all the above questions is a firm "NO"

So someone (GM Declan to be accurate), has gone and gathered a group of people together in a lovely old Manor home. But just as happy hour is about to start the lights flicker, a scream breaks the silence and a body lies, lifeless, on the ground! All the guests now look suspiciously at each other!

Urrgh it's all just so typical!! You and the rest of the USS Gorgon manage to swing some must needed shore leave. You get invited to a swanky reception at the Starfleet Academy. And get a chance to meet up with you old professor while downing the little cocktail sausages and glasses of champagnee.

Good news about the future (bar the funky shiny purple hair that we'll all have) is that there are plenty of dead space ships out there. Multi-billion dollar assets simply abondoned and waiting for someone to come along and claim treasures within. Cut thru that CONDEMNED tape and you'll be fine.

It's Spacedogs!! GM Rob's Mongoose Traveller 2e Spacedogs to be precise. And the dogs in question are actually more wolf like. Except they are called Vargr. And they walk about on two legs. And they talk. And they have guns So not that dog like. Maybe best not to mention the whole dog thing.

Now this game is a real blast from the past!! Back when D&D was just young and 5e (or any e for that matter) was no more than a pipe dream we have the 1974 version of Dungeons & Dragons. And GM Gus is giving y'all (well 4 or 5 of you anyways) the chance to play the first ever published scenario!!
