Funny news. The last time I recorded bass, one of its knobs (the tone) was turned down all the way unknowingly. Because I had the live track so loud, I thought it was fine. Now I can’t get the bass tone I want in the mix. So…I need to record it again. 😂

My second vocal session was so much better than the first. Now I just need to mix it, then on to the next!

I rerecorded both the bass and rhythm guitars parts yesterday for my new song. I had done that the day before, but something wasn’t quite right. Had a bad day I guess. This time, I focused hard on tuning by ear (not just trusting the tuner) and playing in perfect rhythm, and it turned out great!

Just got confirmation that my chosen album art artist has accepted the task for my upcoming album!

I got the guitar solos just how I wanted them! Now it’s bass’s turn! The nice thing about being an independent musician is I can do what I want. I have an album full of songs to work on, but I feel like working on this one right now! 🤘😁

My song “Fire” got some attention last week that I didn’t ask for, and I released it a few years ago. It was a mix of punk and a solid touch of metal, with heavy guitars. I actually wrote that song 25 years ago.

I have drums complete on all songs for the album as of last night! There is a chance that another song will come to life before I’m done with these songs and I’ll need to get drums done, but we will see!

So last night, I sat down with a metronome and my acoustic guitar and played through my brand new song (written and in my brain for less than a week). I found the perfect bpm, and even adjusted the song a little bit. It’s hitting the studio!

I’m songwriting, recording, mixing and producing a full-length album. I’m excited about this one because it will be focused solely on my strengths as a musician, portraying who I am musically.

Got a couple bass tracks recorded over the weekend. I’ve also been writing lyrics for a song that is instrumentally recorded…just doesn’t have a melody or completed lyrics yet.

I played guitar tonight. I had a click track going. I figured out the precise bpm and am ready to record!

I’m not creating music to become famous, rich or even to make a living from it. I create music because I love it, and I’ve been doing it for a long time. It rocks when positive connections are made with others from it. Music is powerful.

The current song I’m working on will be a tough one to release. The lyrics are sooo personal. No worries, I’ll still do it. Hoping to hit the studio tonight.

I love the acoustic guitar because it can take care of rhythm, melody, harmony, etc. all on its own. It’s so powerful that way.

I sure love a good wall of sound blasting me in the face. That’s what “End of Days” by Minus Context” (Operation Neptune Spear and me) does. His vocal talent makes heavy even HEAVIER!!!
