Into the office and a spot of lunch on the grass with Neil Ardley and the New Jazz Orchestra, including Jack Bruce on bass. Recorded during two days in September 1968, just two months after this recording, Jack was on stage at the Royal Albert Hall with Cream for their farewell performance.

My first encounter with Basil Kirchin was with this LP in 1974. I bought it not because I was an insufferably hip teenager, but because, like the previous year's No Pussyfooting, it was on the HELP label, cost £1.49, and came with an endorsement from Eno on the back cover. Bracing then and now.

I watched the Macca doc last night. Enjoyable stuff, albeit with a couple of caveats. Also, and somewhat unexpectedly, it made me warm to Mull of Kintyre. Make of that what you will.

I like this. Fripp, Levin & Marotta in Feb 1978, are laying down some applied Frippertronic grooves, when they are joined by Fripp in 1981, taking a solo. The resulting mix of these two different time streams is rather effective, I think. youtu.be/_I95axkyank?...
