I think what a lot of these unsuccessful interventions have in common is that they are about changing kids within schools, rather than changing the school itself. The school becoming a channel for reaching lots of kids, rather than the school environment itself being a target for intervention.

Another moment of naivety re accessibility. Question: why is the breast scanning machine for standing users only? Aren’t all other scanners horizontal? BBC breakfast reported this am, cancer can’t be detected or monitored in some wheelchair users. 🤯

Lots of people don’t function well under stress. Growing up in shouty and fear based household means we can travel back to a frightened headspace when under stress. From a learning perspective invoking those feelings isn’t helpful.

Loved this story. Not sure why things are listed as young adult rather than just fiction. Spent the afternoon in the company of a mother and son in post apocalyptic Wales. Left me reflecting again on those strange Covid times and why our lives are so full of things that don’t matter…sometimes.

I can’t do the #bookchallenge properly because I’m incapable of sharing a book without making a comment. But a beautiful book for this time of year is Wintering my Katherine May.

Only half way through but I have been really enjoying this book. It’s wonderfully warm, you can feel the real stories and flinch at times at the hurts. It brings up so much as you reflect back on your own adolescence and for me thinking about the strength my two have shown in theirs.

Really enjoying this comprehensive guide to sleep and how our circadian rhythm impacts so many parts of our lives. So many of the young people I meet are impacted by poor sleep and it feels at times at the centre of their negative experiences. Trying to understand more about why that is.
