📌 Day 2 Recap - Migration, Diaspora & Collaboration We explored some powerful themes today—from diasporic medical tourism and local services for Syrian immigrants in Mersin to firsthand accounts from migrant students. The day wrapped up with an exciting push toward collaborative paper development.

Day 1 kicked off with a warm welcome from Prof. Dr. Ali ÖZEN (Rector) & Prof. Dr. Ali DERAN (Dean) 🎤✨ Guests mingled with faculty at a relaxed reception 🤝 Then dove into series of powerful panels and discussions.

Panel B: The Body as Identity explored how bodies shape identity systems. Dr. Polonyi reflected on ID documents in art, Dr. Higgs traced body/person divisions in history, and J. Pedro Garcia discussed same-sex marriage as a path to EU regularization. Chaired by Prof. Prof. Ana Belén Martínez García

Afternoon Panel A: Dr. Speranta Dumitriu discussed the abolition of passports, Dr. Natalija Shikova examined ID's role in multicultural North Macedonia, and Dr. Tugba Aydin Halisoglu presented insights from the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Chaired by Dr. Ibtisam Sadegh.

The HIDDEN Roundtable brought together WG leaders Prof. Godfrey Baldacchino, Dr. Aisling Shalvey (WG2), Dr. Beatrice Scutaru (WG5), Prof. Michael Geary (WG3), and Dr. Ibtisam Sadegh (WG4) to reflect on accomplishments and future goals. @costprogramme.bsky.social @jenniferredmond.bsky.social
