It's a pretty cool thing to sit back and realize that I've now sold more CDs as Lavender Fire than I ever did under my old name..... Six to be exact! Have sold a few at some recent gigs and then one today at AFK Records...... So yay! Go me! :)

Would've been nice if CD Baby let me know a month ago that my new album couldn't be delivered to the iTunes store/Apple Music for some inexplicable reason! Glad it's everywhere else! It's just not on iTunes. GRRRRRRR Fixing that now through another distributor. Fingers crossed!

I've decided to revisit some of the TV shows I have on DVD and which I haven't watched in a hot minute. Just finished rewatching the pilot for Miami Vice, which I have on DVD. Still holds up really well and am enjoying it all over again! :)

If I ever need a good cry, the song Si j'étais moi by Zazie (title translates to If I Were Me) always does it. Been feeling really down today. Not feeling like myself lately. All I can do is hope that it gets better.

I was watching a Zazie concert yesterday and now I'm inspired to write an original song in French. It'll never be as good lyrically as her, but hey, I can give it a try. I do love singing and writing in French. It's just been a while. I now have a first draft of a song, so we'll see what happens!

A few days ago, I wrote a happy, bouncy song. Today I wrote a sad song..... Sigh, emotions!

Inspiration comes from the most random places sometimes. Today I saw a pink Maserati I saw while I was riding around on my bike. Ended up writing a very jaunty, bouncy song about it, in a style that's unlike what I've written before. Really enjoying playing it, we'll see what happens to it! :)

OMG I logged into my Soundcloud account for the first time in ages and was reminded of a song I first performed back in 2018 and haven't sung really since 2021. The song is called Water on Glass and was one of the first lesbian songs I ever wrote. I may have to do an updated version. We'll see!

I think this June has to be the wettest one I've experienced in a long time. It's inspired a song that came to me while I was riding my bike around yesterday during a period where it WASN'T raining. Working on recording a demo of it this morning :)

Not looking for sympathy, just expressing something that's part of my story. I sometimes deal with really bad episodes of depression and today is no exception. I'm so glad I'm seeing my therapist later today. I know she'll help me.

I know it's been really quiet around here. That's because I'm recovering from the first ever case of pneumonia I've ever had in my life. UGH! I'm feeling a bit better now, but like with any sickness, it'll take time to recover. Back to playing video games to pass the time then.

Gotta love it when a song I kind of forgot about gets stuck in my head. Last year, I wrote a song called Drifting, a song I toplined over a piano instrumental I came up with. It's a song about social media and I just may put this out at some point, or make it a mailing list exclusive. We'll see!

Reconnecting a bit with the songs I used to sing for my voice teacher back in my 20s. I watched Nine with my wife and it reminded me that I sang Simple, from the musical version, for voice lessons! What a pretty song. Haven't sung this in a LONG time. Wish it had been in the movie version! :)

Just recorded a vocal take where I started CRYING by the end. One of the few times I've ever done that when recording. And as much as I want to be a perfectionist, I'm leaving it in. Because that emotion was genuine. I don't care if I was off on the note or whatever.

Think I've finally finalized the track listing for my first album as Lavender Fire! It may include a new song I just wrote less than 48 hours ago, the darkest song I've ever written..... We'll see!

Ended up writing a chorus for a possible song while riding my bike outside today! Last night was one of the worst sleep nights I've had in quite some time.... so exhausted today. Really hoping tonight is better.

It's amazing what having very poor sleep will do to you. Last night was my worst night in a while and so I'm just DRAGGING through the day. Time to just be quiet and rest for a bit. Hope I'll be more perked up for tonight's open mic night :)

Didn't send the new tunes to the distributor yesterday. Doing that today. Why? There was a part at the end of the title track that just didn't sound right to me, so I redid the vocal. It's a HIGH part, so I did it right after my bike ride, when I'm all warmed up. And it worked!! :D

Currently trying to decide between two different patterns for my outfit for the Launch Conference gig next month in Lancaster. The halter dress would be made of a dark swirling red knit fabric. The other would have a plaid skirt with vaguely lesbian colors, and a red bodice. Can't decide!

Before today I'd sewn many things: countless dresses, dress pants, jumpsuits.... But had never sewn pajama pants. And now I've made some!!! Found a cute fabric print at Joann's, purple with black cats on it, and now I have a pair of cute pajama pants! Go me! :)
