I have just read in Ethical Consumer, with incredulity, that Labour’s John Healey, the UK’s Defence (sic) Secretary, said in 2025 that investing in “defence” is ethical! I’ve lost count of the things that Labour has said & done in power that tell me their ethical & environmental compass is bust.

In order to be effective long term that plan must include the elimination of commercial fishing given that a significant amount of the ‘garbage patch’ consists of abandoned fishing gear.

We buy into the myth of significant differences between humans & nonhumans because acknowledgement of the irrefutable morally significant similarities will force us to face the irreconcilable gulf between our stated ethical values & our obscene, violent actions. We are #OneBillionScreams

Leather is a deforestation driver. We’ve joined NGOs calling on the Commission not to exclude leather from the EU Deforestation Regulation. Removing it would allow products linked to deforestation into the EU market. Strong laws must be based on scientific evidence, not industry lobbying.
