Sorry for the rants but this has been building for a while and I really don’t like the current state of the discussion around whether it is ok to step away or switch off.

And if anyone comes for me about how ignoring/muting political and other content is an indicator of privilege - I agree with you. However, I am literally exposed to/looking at/ analysing the news and geopolitical landscape 9-5 every weekday for my job

Stop censoring your words with asterisks. You’re adults. And don’t give me that “it’s so I don’t upset someone” excuse because all your asterisk does is prevent the word from being blocked by mute lists which means you’re subjecting people to the content anyway. Quit it!
