#Suffolk musicians - anyone know of a recording studio with a relatively decent acoustic piano that isn't super high end/residential? Looking for somewhere to put a couple of tracks down. can only seem to find band/producer rooms or pro classical places and I'm self-funding.

Smashing, this, and mirrors my experience in a different genre, similar trajectory. Was never trying to be a rockstar (too lazy), but the venues and audience were there and most of my time was spent thinking about, you know, actual music. Still making work, but won't engage with engagement any more.

I just found a load of my streaming videos from lockdown. They were pretty good sometimes. It came to feel like screaming into the void but it was good for technique and getting out of my comfort zone a bit. Made me miss the octatrack and a less complex set up.

We are back. New old music and new new music is coming.

Another observation - saying that people could find me on Spotify used to feel like it gave some kind of validation that I was, er, a "legit" artist. It's now starting to feel a bit shameful.

One thing I need to get better at after gigs is having some kind of little postcard or giveaway thing for people that have enjoyed it. A couple of people asked me where they could listen to more and I sort of fumbled about going "er...search for x".

Bit back down to earth this weekend after a wonderful Woodbridge ambient festival (and one of the more satisfying gigs I've done lately) and my amazing wife doing her first ever half marathon. Need to remember the importance of getting up and out and doing stuff.

Tiniest bit of tweaking to do but holy shit I do belive I've finished an album. What's more I'm feeling pretty confident that I've got enough to follow it up fairly quickly (either under one name or another). This has literally never happened in 25 years of releasing music.

Went to a few art shows last week. Jenny Saville (astonishing and heartbreaking), Ithell Colquhoun (interesting and fun), Edward Burra (not for me). struck me how much the arts-speak description cards now feel like they're AI written. Obvs not, but the word-salad feels off in a post AI world.

Supposed to be watching the Pet Shop Boys but my car decided to break so have had to limp home. Bit gutted.

The more I think about the Barbican Feel the Sound exhibition the more annoyed I am. Wasted opportunity with hacks indulging in wafty concepts when there are hundreds of audio explorers out there. The bullshit was really strong.

I think that this is nuanced and spot on. Bar one thing - there is a case I can see where novel forms of human expression will be found via the technology. The history of arts and entertainment is replete with examples. It's misuse to creative ends can, and will, produce profound work.

NL people - Delighted to be returning to Utrecht next month for a tearful reunion with @dombles.bsky.social to perform a reconstructed set of tunes from Set the Weather Fair at the Open Forms festival. Because that album was released in 2020 it didn't get the live runout it deserved so can't wait.

Sat down and had a proper listen to this new @polypores.bsky.social today and what a record. It's got that feeling of the machines only barely being under control thing that I haven't heard the likes of since Octavcat. Rich and complex yet super tuneful and head-noddy. Masterpiece electronica.

Any recomends for a reasonably priced session jazz drummer - could be a remote session/self recording? Going for that Mammal Hands/Neil Cowley trio kind of vibe and it really needs some groove and restraint.
