As I travel back to Parliament this morning, I'm preparing for the #EmploymentRightsBill to return from the Lords. They've watered it down and we can't let them. Here's what's happened and why it's so important Labour delivers for working people 👇

Today I, with other members of the @usdawunion.bsky.social Parliamentary Group, wrote to Lib Dem MPs calling on them to help undo the damage Lib Dem and Tory Lords did to the #EmploymentRightsBill. People in this country deserve security at work and guaranteed hours is part of that.

I worked with @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social on plans to improve early years and childcare before I was an MP. In Government, she's delivering those plans. Her commitment to delivering on this and the need for a strong Northern voice, means that I have nominated her for Labour Deputy Leader.

Today, the UK comes together for Emergency Services Day, to honour the dedication and service of our emergency services personnel. To all staff and volunteers in the NHS, police, fire, ambulance, coastguard, and search and rescue services: thank you. #999Day

Parliament has resumed after recess, and I want to thank everyone in #WorsleyAndEccles who welcomed me over the past five weeks. Meeting residents, community groups, and local organisations has been a real privilege. I look forward to continuing these visits throughout the year.

Today, I joined the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves MP, and @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social at St Stephen’s in #WorsleyAndEccles to visit their new school-based nursery. I'm proud that St Stephen’s is one of 300 new or expanded nurseries and look forward to more schools benefiting from this Labour Government.

🚨Standing With Salford Red Devils🚨 I have written to Lisa Nandy MP and the RFL to highlight serious issues threatening the club. The last couple of days have only gotten worse and I'm meeting the RFL next week. Salford fans deserve better & immediate action is needed.

Today, we honour and remember the people from #WorsleyAndEccles and beyond who served in WW2, securing victory over Japan and the peace that followed. VJ Day is a day to reflect, to remember those we lost, and to celebrate the courage and resilience that shaped our communities.

🌈 Great to attend Salford Youth Pride at The Deans Youth Club! Drumming, flower arranging, arts and crafts, gaming, and performing arts created a joyful, safe space where LGBTQ+ youth can thrive. Wonderful to see our community come together to celebrate pride. 💛

At Dr Vardhan’s Surgery in Astley today, I met the dedicated team providing local GP care and support. Their plan to expand and provide services like physiotherapy and mental health in a setting patients know and trust, are very welcome. Steps I’ll certainly support where I can.

It's #NationalRetailWorkersDay! I started my working life in retail at Morrisons in Eccles and know how tough it can be. Retail workers were on the frontline in the Pandemic and are at the heart of our communities. Thank you to all retail workers across #WorsleyAndEccles and the country.
