Local volunteers like Graham Walker are the heart of our community, keeping the spirit of Remembrance alive. I was very pleased to present him with a Letter of Appreciation recognising his dedication to veterans and the wider Armed Forces from the Secretary of State for Defence.

The new right to a guaranteed hours contract in the Employment Rights Act could be transformational, finally ending exploitative short and zero-hour contracts. But we must make sure we get the detail right and ensure all workers benefit.

Thank you to the 1,797 people who co-signed my letter calling for the ‘Bridgewater West’ site to be removed from the Wigan Local Plan. The letter has now been sent to all 75 Wigan Councillors. Together, our message is loud and clear: this land must stay Green Belt.

It was a privilege to lay a wreath at the memorial in Swinton today We paused today to honour the courage and sacrifice of all who served and gave their lives in the pursuit of peace. We will remember them.

I'm horrified by the attack on worshippers at a synagogue in Manchester. My thoughts are with the victims, their families and the wider Jewish community at this difficult time. I stand in full solidarity with Jewish people in #WorsleyAndEccles and across the country.

I worked to improve people's pay and security before I was an MP and as one, I'm proud to have kept up that work. It's so important to everything we do and I'm not going to stop now.

Last week, we urged the Lib Dems not to try to weaken the #EmploymentRightsBill. It was hugely disappointing that they joined forces with the Tories and Reform last night to do just that. Fortunately, this Labour Government stood firm and is delivering the Bill.

As I travel back to Parliament this morning, I'm preparing for the #EmploymentRightsBill to return from the Lords. They've watered it down and we can't let them. Here's what's happened and why it's so important Labour delivers for working people 👇

Today I, with other members of the @usdawunion.bsky.social Parliamentary Group, wrote to Lib Dem MPs calling on them to help undo the damage Lib Dem and Tory Lords did to the #EmploymentRightsBill. People in this country deserve security at work and guaranteed hours is part of that.

I worked with @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social on plans to improve early years and childcare before I was an MP. In Government, she's delivering those plans. Her commitment to delivering on this and the need for a strong Northern voice, means that I have nominated her for Labour Deputy Leader.

Today, the UK comes together for Emergency Services Day, to honour the dedication and service of our emergency services personnel. To all staff and volunteers in the NHS, police, fire, ambulance, coastguard, and search and rescue services: thank you. #999Day

Today, I joined the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves MP, and @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social at St Stephen’s in #WorsleyAndEccles to visit their new school-based nursery. I'm proud that St Stephen’s is one of 300 new or expanded nurseries and look forward to more schools benefiting from this Labour Government.
