It was quite an eventful night here. There was a fire in the building opposite mine: an entire apartment was destroyed by the flames. Smoke, chaos, firefighters, police, evacuations... Now it's all over, and apparently no one was hurt.

These days I have taken note of the fact that in real life no one cares anymore whether I am dead or alive. Depression mode on. Genoa, Italy, I've lived on these streets all my life but this is the first time I see people sleeping on main sidewalks even during the day. Strategic location, blocking passage but staying under the closed store security cameras to guard against aggression. This is the future.

The world ended in the summer of 2001. We are still surviving in a lousy backup copy of it that continues to work because of a bug on Windows 98. Or, more likely, all these subsequent years are just a bad hallucination in my last moments of delirium.
