Schools are different. Buildings, community, transport. While schools can never please everyone chances are your kid's has made the best decisions about opening and heat adaptations based on its individual circumstance. Assume competence. Leaders and teachers are at least as hot and grumpy as you.

You don’t see many politicians making decisions that outlast an election cycle. Spoke to youngest lad we adopted in 2010 (he was 5 then) and he has just received his Child Trust Fund. As a Looked After Child when he was born, he was granted £250 plus an additonal £250. It has just paid out £1995

End of my first half term at a new school. I usually land in schools that are in some level of crisis. This time the school I have joined is settled, already improving and well staffed. First time in ages that I haven’t been on the point of falling over at the end of a half term. Loving it.

SENCO and AP for T&L are basically the same job. Or should be at least.

Having lost the first 17 games - I finally won. Never playing again.

Bumped into an ex student in Costa. Cost me a hot chocolate (with Marsh Mallows). School wasn’t always the smoothest for him but so good to catch up. He was running his own recruitment business remotely from Costa and has played American Football for GB since I last saw him 👏👏👏👏👏.

We won but it wasn’t much of a game.

Half term starts tomorrow and I am between roles - new headship starts after half term. It’s bizarre - I literally have nothing to do.

You hear so many stories about the challenges of recruiting great staff. We took on a phenomenal English ECT today. Just fabulous.
