S4E1: Scorpion Part II I can understand if folks felt let down by this opening episode, it’s very Borg heavy, redefining key characteristics of Trek’s biggest villain. The Chakotay fakeout only works if you handwave through it. Seven’s introduction is all that matters in this episode.

S4E2: The Gift In a rare serialized TV moment, we pick up from E1. A strong episode showcasing the challenge of cultural assimilation in reverse! Federation values & morals are rightly challenged by Seven. Also, we trade a blonde for a blonde, as Kes’ telepathy has her leave the ship!

S4E3: Day of Honor FINALLY a proper B’Elanna episode. Tensions abound in this one & I hated the alien of the week. Instead of the usual optimism, writers decided to feed into homeless stereotypes as grifters and criminals. Seven is used as a tension rod, Tom comes on too strong but it works.

The Tom & B’Elanna courtship in season 3 of Voyager is really hot.
