🔵⚪️ If you score three goals, you should be winning. Two more points dropped by #htafc. The character and fight is there but Town are not learning from their mistakes. It’s just nowhere near good enough defensively. Play-offs at best this year. Will Kevin Nagle tolerate that?

Sheffield Wednesday have failed to win any of their previous 10 league matches at Hillsborough (D3 L7), their longest run since October 2020. Only in August 1975 (13), August 1968 (11) and March 1955 (11) have they suffered longer such streaks in the Football League. #SWFC 🦉⚽️

Big admission from #SWFC boss Henrik Pedersen to BBC Radio Sheffield at his presser today that Wednesday’s players ran 12km more vs Millwall than Sheffield United. Why did they run less in the derby after over two weeks off? That can’t be right, can it? Surprised HP shared that stat. 🦉⚽️

🚨 Winger Nathan Redmond has joined #SWFC on a free transfer. Has signed a deal until January. Had been training with the club. Could make his Owls debut this weekend. 🦉⚽️

Very difficult to say anything new about #SWFC on the pitch. We know this skeleton’s squad limitations. The effort is there, the quality isn’t. That’s not going to change between now and next May. One new attacking player ain’t going to fix their goal-scoring shortage. 🦉⚽️

FT: Millwall 1 #SWFC 0. Wednesday had their chances and didn’t take them. Sub Azeez made all the difference. Changed my opinion on the winner after watching a replay. Horvath should have done better, but Wednesday didn’t stop the cross at source. Poor defending all round. 🦉⚽️

Impossible to fault the players attitude or application in this first half. Everyone has put a real shift in. There has been a positive reaction to what happened at the weekend. Bannan almost scored an absolute screamer. Wonderful strike from miles out. Top save. #SWFC 🦉⚽️

There’s no outlet again in attack for #SWFC. Millwall are starting to take over now, with Wednesday careless in possession. Cooper has acquitted himself well so far on his full debut. Cooper, Iorfa and Co are having to do a fair amount of defending. 0-0 after 27 minutes. 🦉⚽️

🔵⚪️ It’s now 5️⃣ defeats from 8️⃣ away league matches for #htafc. Anything but promotion form. They threw away a point tonight. This Luton side aren’t great and they had them on the ropes in the second half. More calamitous playing out from the back cost them.

🔵⚪️ Not remotely surprising to see #htafc concede a soft goal after messing around with it at the back. It’s the way Lee Grant wants them to play. When it works, it’s good. When it doesn’t, it looks horrendous. Town are going nowhere this year unless they improve defensively.

🔵⚪️ What a 🚀 A spectacular free kick from Castledine. His fifth goal of the season. No more than #htafc deserved. They have stepped things up in the second half. Castledine and Harness have made things happen in the final third. All the play for now with 25 minutes to go.

🔵⚪️ Did Lonwijk handle Wiles’ shot? Certainly looked a strong penalty shout from the TV replays. Roosken has found it tough going at left-back. Not the only player who has struggled, mind. Luton are good value for their lead. Lots for Lee Grant to ponder at half-time.

🔵⚪️ Forty minutes gone at Kenilworth Road and Luton deservedly have the upper hand. They have been miles better than #htafc Are Town missing Radinio Balker and Mickel Miller? You bet they are. It has been a lacklustre performance. Hardly created anything as an attacking unit.

🔵⚪️ Luton have been all over #htafc in the opening 18 minutes. Ledson, Harness and Wiles have been second best in midfield. The front two have not had anything to work with as Town have kept cheaply turning over the ball. Big improvement needed ASAP.

🔵⚪️ Players returning from injury. Strikers scoring goals. Three wins in a row. Have #htafc turned a corner? Another big test tomorrow vs Luton, who will be smarting after their Barnsley hammering. Still concerned about Town at the back. Not kept a clean sheet since September 27.

It was disappointing the lack of fight #SWFC showed yesterday. Confidence seemed to drain out of the team after Sheffield United took an early lead. Not sure how Henrik Pedersen fixes things following a 10-match winless run. This squad is not of Championship standard. 🦉⚽️

HP on Iorfa’s back injury: “I don’t know how serious it is at this stage.” HP praised debutant Liam Cooper for his “strong” display. Says #SWFC are still in talks with the EFL over what the club can do in the free agents market. Hopes for an answer in the next 48 hours. 🦉⚽️

Henrik Pedersen: “We’re all disappointed. It was not the performance we hoped for today. We struggled with belief and trust to move the ball quickly after the first goal. “We had more of the ball in the second half but we struggled to find the last pass and cross.” #SWFC 🦉⚽️

Wilder: “We quietened the crowd with the first goal. We controlled the game and implemented our game plan on the opposition. “We defended well and we looked particularly threatening on the break. It was a really competitive Steel City derby and I’m delighted to come out with the win.” #SUFC

Chris Wilder on the Steel City derby: “It has been a tough period for both clubs. “I went up to Barry Bannan and Liam Palmer at the end of the game. The way they’ve handled themselves as pros and human beings has been a credit to their club.” #SWFC #SUFC

FT: #SWFC 0 #SUFC 3. The Steel City bragging rights go to Chris Wilder and United once again. They didn’t have to play that well and still comfortably won. Too many Wednesday players were not at the races in a low quality Yorkshire derby. 🦉⚽️

GOAL. 3-0 #SUFC. Cannon’s shot from just outside the penalty area takes a little deflection and goes in. Way too easy from a #SWFC perspective. Wednesday’s players look absolutely out on their feet. ‘We want more’ sing the away end.

t has been a stop-start second half and that has suited Sheffield United down to the ground. #SWFC have looked toothless in attack. Awful miss just now from Cannon after he was played through on goal by Bamford. Horvath spread himself well to block the shot. 🦉⚽️

Wednesday’s best attacking player thus far? Jamal Lowe. Has not stopped running, constantly chasing lost causes. Looked lively. The visitors have done a good job of pushing Fusire and Amass back. Not allowed them to get forward and provide the width. #SWFC 🦉⚽️

The hosts keep playing themselves into trouble trying to play out from the back. The issue is #SWFC can’t go long because Ugbo has not won a single thing up against Tanganga and Mee. Can definitely see Cadamarteri coming on at half-time/early in the second half. 🦉⚽️

Twenty minutes in at Hillsborough and Sheffield United lead 1-0 after a well taken finish from Tyrese Campbell. Could have been two nil but Ings was denied by Horvath. #SWFC started strongly but have lost their way and keep coughing up possession at regular intervals. #SUFC

I get that #SWFC and #SUFC are both at a low ebb and have really struggled on the pitch this season. Nonetheless, I’ve been surprised at the lack of national coverage of tomorrow’s clash. It’s one of the biggest derbies in the country. It’s a massive deal to a lot of people.

🔵⚪️ Must admit, I thought there was no way back for Dion Charles at #htafc and the club would look to move him in on January. Has now scored 4️⃣ goals in his last 3️⃣ appearances. Some turnaround in his and Radulovic’s fortunes. 3️⃣ wins on the bounce for Town. Getting there. 📈

Bazball? Australia have shown England how to play it today. You’ve got to question England’s lack of warm-up matches ahead of the series. The bowlers bailed the batters out in the first innings. So many batsmen look undercooked. Serious questions need to be asked. #Ashes2025 🏏

🔵⚪️ We're going to see what this #htafc side are really made of after the international break. Seven matches in 2⃣2⃣ days, including five away from home, will test the strength and quality of Lee Grant's squad. Will be all hands to the pump and LG must manage his resources well.

Sheffield Wednesday have won just two league matches at home in 2025 (Derby and Middlesbrough). There is, though, renewed optimism around the place since #SWFC went into administration. Expecting another close Steel City derby at a raucous, sold-out S6 on Sunday. 🦉⚽️

🔵⚪️ Is it healthy for #htafc to have two No 1 goalkeepers? Was interesting that Lee Grant recalled Owen Goodman on Saturday. Insists he's not under pressure to play OG. But rotating goalkeepers is not a recipe for success; LG will soon have to make a final call on Goodman and Lee Nicholls.

You would hope whoever ends up buying #SWFC will: 1) Engage and communicate with the fans on a regular basis 2) Bring in football people to run the club from top to bottom 3) Articulate what the long term plan is on and off the pitch. Some easy wins there. 🦉⚽️

Moss successful passes in the Southampton vs #SWFC clash? Barry Bannan (91) - 23 more than the next player (Max Lowe). Most touches? Barry Bannan (119) - 29 more than the next player (Max Lowe). The skipper never hides and constantly looks to make things happen. 🦉⚽️

🔵⚪️ One of the first names on the #htafc teamsheet after the international break? Radinio Balker. Has shown what he’s all about in the last two matches. Has stepped up and taken his chance. Lee Grant will be desperate for RB to come back from international duty unscathed.

It’s now nine matches without a win for #SWFC. One victory in 15 Championship matches. Loads of good players left the club in the summer and weren’t replaced, leaving Henrik Pedersen with a skeleton squad. This team needs some help but that’s in the hands of the EFL. 🦉⚽️

🔵⚪️ Strikers working well together in tandem. Strikers scoring goals. What is this wizardry at #htafc?!! Back-to-back home wins would certainly ease the pressure building on Lee Grant. Most results elsewhere at the top of League One are also going their way.

🔵⚪️ Three goals in as many outings for Bojan Radulovic. Always felt he was a player worth persevering with. Is the best forward #htafc have when it comes to holding the ball up and bringing others into play. Now getting the goals to add to his all round game.

The underlying numbers show that #SWFC have lacked ruthlessness in front of goal this season. They're underperforming against their expected goals total by five goals (11 scored from 16.15 xG). Only so much HP and his staff can do on the training ground to address it. 🦉⚽️

🔵⚪️ We're not yet a third of the way through the season but Plymouth is a must-win for #htafc. Town are already six points off the play-off pace, having won just one of their last six league matches. The players owe Lee Grant and the fans a big performance.

Tonight's result means #SWFC are winless in their last nine home league matches (D3 L6), including all eight so far this season (D2 L6) – it is already their longest ever start to a home campaign without winning at Hillsborough. Next up at S6? The Steel City derby. 🦉⚽️
