Welp. My departure is sending _WAVES_ through my region's tech team. I don't think upper management realized how much of an icon I was for folks. Honestly, it feels good in many ways.

And that's that. Meeting tomorrow morning at some point. SO I CAN TAKE THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK TO HAVE FUN. AND NOT HAVE TO CHECK SLACK DURING MY SKI TRIP COMING UP! Downside: Lawyering up time.

Tomorrow looks like the finale for my 8.5-year arc at this job. And honestly? It can’t come fast enough. I’ve been fighting the script for years, burnt out from trying to build safety nets for my team while leadership actively dismantles the floor to embrace the AI grift.

Reflecting on this year... most sobering thought: I've sat through 3 people passing right in front of me at this point. The one that definitely still fucks me up the most is the one with my sister. Hard not to think about it, having been on that side of standing vigil this year, for my grandpa.

On another note... how livid I was today forced me to finally go find a PT for my shoulder that was being extremely grumpy at me... It now feels a little like jelly (said my shoulders were just super tense and needed some larger corrections... so they ultrasounded and estim'd them) >.>

One thing I will say: China punched well above its weight; I remember being unimpressed over 2 decades ago, when I was a teenager. I am now very much the opposite and I intend to return for more adventures. So, till next time. Not an if. Just when.

It's been years since I've travelled with my parents on a significant international itinerary... It's been nice. I missed this. Still, the lingering demon remains: it'd have been nice to have had this with my sister around. I definitely didn't shed a couple of tears last night for that...

My flight back was me passing the fucky out even before take-off, and waking up approximately 30 minutes before landing... Tiredness... yep.

And one other closing thought: Inclusive spaces don’t exist on their own. It takes vision, planning, and a community to create them. We must be intentional about building them, cherish when they flourish, and steadfast in guarding them so they will exist for others.

My heart is full of gratitude. For everyone who brought BFC to life. For everyone who gave their time to make each event possible. For everyone who felt safe enough to set their shields down and show up as their authentic selves, and share that with others.

If I may offer one recommendation—take it easy over the next couple of days. Coming from a place where you’ve been seen, acknowledged, and accepted, and then slipping back into the day-to-day rhythm of masking… it’s not easy. But hold onto this: you have been seen, and you will be seen again.
