Aesthetically I'd say Logic Bombs is the kind of game that, regardless of the gameplay, would struggle to get over 10 reviews if it wasn't made by Matthewmatosis. It's cool that it can succeed, but so many great games do not have a face to champion them. store.steampowered.com/app/3816700/

I ran across a game that was described as a "rule-discovery puzzle game" which is a phrase I just love. We have a lot of traditional structured puzzles but there's fun in figuring out the rules of a fictionalized world to take advantage of them without being tutorialized or aggressively breadcrumbed

I've been using SteamDB to search for games recently because of their filtering options, but I'd LOVE if they added a filtering option to filter out games with AI disclosures. It would let me examine a lot more games since right now I'm filtering <10 review games because too many of them are AI slop

I've been thinking about how greenlight processes effect what games we make today. We often describe the games we wish to make in the context of other existing games with a twist, so we can compare what *that* game made to what our own ideas *could* make. Funders want something they can anchor on.

The first Stacklands-like that I've played, it's Abra-cooking-dabra's demo in Steam Next Fest! A non-traditional cooking game where you're managing ingredients, growing, board space, and figuring out HOW everyone's food is even prepared! Sometimes the customers even provide the ingredients.

Today's Next Fest I went on a little Speedrunning adventure with Leap Galaxy. I love momentum systems, though I'm trash at them. Go through some celeste-ish levels with speedy creatures. One thing I'm reminded of when try demos is that as a dev, you should play both great and jank games. Great games can inspire you to build what someone else has already built with slight adjustments, but when I play something odd I look for how *I* would approach the interesting ideas a game offers

Another demo from Next Fest! Öoo is a cute puzzle platformer, emphasis on the puzzle. Set up bombs in confined spaces that can propel you around obstacles to get through rooms, feed flies to frogs. A cute art style and challenging platformer puzzles.
