How much do you know about sealants? A sealant is a protective plastic coating applied to the biting surfaces of back teeth. It smooths pits and fissures (grooves in the teeth) forming a hard shield to prevent food and bacteria buildup. They can be really useful in reducing tooth decay.

Although a fear of the dentist is fairly common, for some it prevents them from attending check-ups, putting their health at risk. Relaxation techniques and being honest about your worries with the dentist can help ease some of the initial anxiety.
