Another big achievement for me this year was over 25 episodes of @jmanvelez.bsky.social and my podcast, Brainlords. It's been really wonderful to have a small project each week that takes something I care about and forces me to get offline and actually learn about it. I'm so greatful to have this.

This was a hectic year for me but I had some genuinely cool stuff I got to do for work in 2025. A thread in no particular order:

I did plenty of clean up work and painting on this including the cool halo effect on the "light" at the en edge of the blade. We havent done anything for Overwatch in ages.

I'm on Casual Magic! we had a really insightful conversation about making card art into real life, how we overlook art made for advertising, and most importantly how to put an NES on a hot plate to speed run Dragon Quest 3.

The reason I'm such a pedant for the Akira bike slide is that nobody seems to understand why it was cool. There's a whole build up/contrast to another rider, it's precise, it sells the friction, there's an entire audio element emphasizing it. Yet all that gets referenced is "what if bike sideways?"

We're doing shorts now and I'm really blown away at how funny @jmanvelez.bsky.social makes them.

I recently worked on the EMEA Valorant Ascension trophy. Specifically the most of the paint, some cleanup, assembly, and the casting and gloss for the ORB. Cool finish! I'm happy whenever a trophy looks like it's rendered but it's just there right in front of you.

New episode! We did not expect a massive leak just a day before launch be we still edited in a bonus segment. And honestly the leak only solidified our takes.

It might be cheating to pick the stuff I worked on but alot of people put hundreds of hours of physical labor around toxic chemicals to make these happen. I'm really proud of the projects I do and I wish that people could easily look up who did SFX work like they can with illustrator credits.

I did the entire paint job on this, painstakingly patterning and tape masking custom cut vinyl for like, 3 days. I am so, so stoked to be able to show this off finally.

Some old pics of the Shantae Garage Kit I painted and made a custom base for. Chrome gold on the metal, satin pearl on the pants, candy red on the shoes, I love getting to use multiple types of finishes.

This was one biggest, most important props we've worked on in years. I cannot stress the sheer amount of of labor and engineering that goes into a mirror chrome cup with gold accents, and socketed gems, while only weighing 22lbs.
