As someone who studies distress tolerance, I fully support this statement. People who work in mental health need all kinds of tolerances. (Though I'd argue infinite patience is a high bar, and maybe "ability to refocus after impatience sometimes occurs" is more realistic.)

Anyone have any example papers to look at of using a BUNCH of secondary data to answer a simple question? I have 19 studies that have data allowing me to look at how construct A associates with construct B, where A and B have different measures across studies.

One underappreciated group that fuels change towards better research practices are researchers who spent their PhD trying to build on the work other others, failed, learned about the replication crisis, and thought: You are telling me I may not be incompetent after all?

It's not okay to offer funding where the recipient uses their own money first and is reimbursed later. This barrier puts serious pressure on those in less privileged positions. Many struggle (silently) or lose out completely. Reduce inequity by offering resources up front.

Sometimes I get annoyed with people thinking that psychologists can read minds and see into their souls. But then when I give a reflection, ask a question, or give feedback that seems to really resonate with a person, I think maybe sometimes we *can* see into peoples souls. When they let us.

You've probably heard of distress intolerance. But how about desire intolerance? We think perceived inabilities to sit with or withstand desire underlies impulsivity. Interestingly, desire intolerance is also associated with depression. Check out our new paper! psycnet.apa.org/record/2024-...

One thing I have learned is that when your gut feeling tells you not to work or collaborate with someone, don't over-think it, don't second-guess it, and do not rationalise it away. JUST RUN. As fast and politely as you can.
