Been listening to the Come From Away soundtrack in the car recently. Several songs have given me goosebumps 🥺🥹 A great musical, and a really wonderful story of humanity in the midst of darkness. “There’s a candle in the window, and the kettle’s always on.” 🕯️☕️

Just finished watching the new and finale season of Upload on Prime - shame it’s so short but I enjoyed it. And because I watched the older seasons pre X Files hyper fixation totally sat up at one point all ‘wait?! Ol’ Smokey?!’ 🤭

My body relaxes and my mind quiets. All the heavy worries and fast thoughts of the day feel long gone. I stare at the stars and am reminded just how vast the universe is, and on the grand scheme of things just how small I am. I should do this more often. Take a moment to look at the stars ✨

Night owl diaries: 1am, I went into the garden, tilted my head back and looked up at the skies. The air is warm, cooler and less humid than inside. The night is still, just a distant hum of an industrial estate. The skies are mostly clear, a few wispy clouds, pinprick stars and a bright moon.

Day one of the Factor forensic linguistics summer school done and I’m really enjoying it so far. I did my MA at @lancslinguistics.bsky.social before they did much in this area. I enjoyed sociophonetics so seeing some of the more applied aspects with forensic speech science was a great start!

When your academic interests and special interest/hyperfixation combine! At a forensic linguistics summer school and who do we have representing that ‘the voice is not a constant’ - Gillian Anderson! This was from a talk about (forensic) speech science. I enjoyed sociophonetics so loved this!

Getting my dad started on the X Files Revival while he’s here. He watched the original but hadn’t even known about the revival. He quite enjoyed episode one so on to episode two!
