The nitty-gritty: Magic, mayhem and a bunch of shelter cats make up Heather Fawcettâs latest, an enchanting tale, perfect for fans of Emily Wilde. After loving Heather Fawcettâs Emily Wilde series, I could not wait to read her next book! And Iâm happy to say that Agnes Aubertâs Mystical Cat Shelter was just as delightful, full of magic, humor, lovable characters, and best of all, lots of adorable cats.

The nitty-gritty: A beautifully written story of survival and redemption, Yah Yah Scholfieldâs weird, devastating and brutal Southern Gothic debut is a rollercoaster of emotions, both monstrous and beautiful. âIt happened in the kitchen. Very germaneâbutchery in the cooking place, the cleaver and carving knife bearing witness. The nitty-gritty: A loyal general meets a scheming fae queen in this lively romance, perfect for readers who love political intrigue and well developed characters. âIâm afraid,â said her mother, âit is time for you to learn that, as queens, we do what we must, not what we would prefer.â I am enjoying this series so much! Enchanting the Fae Queen focuses on the second of the Queens of Villainy, Queen Lorelei of Balravia, who uses her schemes and feminine wiles to seduceâor at least aggravateâa High General, with whom sheâs had anâŠinteresting relationship for the last seven years.

The nitty-gritty: Detour takes standard sci-fi tropes and twists them into a unique and outrageously entertaining story, complete with well developed characters and surprising emotional moments. The premise of Detour starts out in familiar territory: a rich billionaire is trying to fund the first trip to Saturnâs moon Titan, in hopes of finding a viable future home for humans. But the story takes a sharp left at about the 70% mark and ends up in a completely different place.

HOW TO LOSE A GOBLIN IN TEN DAYS by Jessie Sylva â Review
The nitty-gritty: Cottagecore meets The Lord of the Rings in this entertaining but slightly uneven debut. I couldnât resist this adorable cover, which Iâll admit is one reason I wanted to read How to Lose a Goblin in Ten Days. And it was cute! There are also some rather weighty themes hovering over all the cuteness, and while these themes gave the story some depth, overall I didnât fully embrace the mix of sweet cottagecore and the almost heavy-handed messages of prejudice and hate.

The nitty-gritty: Mystery, romance and quirky characters make this a must read for readers who love their stories chock full of humor and hijinks. The nitty-gritty: A quirky, feel-good story full of gods, scorpions and lovable characters, Snake-Eater is the perfect cozy end-of-the-year tale. âOn the radio, a song was abruptly interrupted by DJ Raven announcing that the aliens had been in contact again and they had agreed to postpone the invasion if Raven played more Alice Cooper. âI have agreed to this deal for the good of civilization,â DJ Raven announced.

TEA & ALCHEMY by Sharon Lynn Fisher â Review
The nitty-gritty: Dark and romantic, Tea & Alchemy excels with its Gothic setting and intriguing mystery. I call Sharon Lynn Fisher the Queen of Vibes, and in her latest book, the vibes are off the charts! Tea & Alchemy is full of both cozy and Gothic elements, a combination that works perfectly for Sharonâs style. You canât tell from the cover, but this is a vampire story, although the vampire lore is unlike any Iâve read before.

The nitty-gritty: An epic tale of valor and love, The Everlasting will sweep readers off their feet with its intricately plotted story, high emotions and unexpected twists. âMy pen was a hollow reed, clumsily cut, and my ink was gummy brown, but the words came easier than I expected. Like the lines of a poem Iâd memorized as a boy, or a story I had told before and would tell again.â

Today's Top Ten Tuesday is "Freebie," and because I lost a few posts during my blogging issues in October, I'm redoing this one. Whatâs On My Plate â December 2025
And here we are, the last month of 2025! December is usually light on review books, and this year is no exception. Technically, I only have two December releases on my plate, but I'm adding Tea & Alchemy because I meant to read it last month but couldn't get to it. I've broken this month's reading into three categories: December releases, Catch-up review books, and "Get ahead" January releases.

We're nearing the end of SciFi Monthâhow did November fly by so fast?? So it's time to share my favorite science fiction books of the year so far. To be honest, I have not read a lot of SF this year, so this list includes some four star rated books (unusual for my Best Of lists). But I enjoyed all of these and recommend them!
