I've seen this article making the rounds again. It seems nobody is brave enough to acknowledge that it isn't exactly a "subliminal" plot for someone to merely imply things they aren't saying openly, but one can usually do so without being called on it. The bulk of disinformation works this way.

From this recent New Yorker piece to bros on LinkedIn gushing about how not panicky they are about the disinfo crisis, I have to wonder whether the real information crisis of our age is the total impunity with which someone can play something down. Holocaust denial was the original disinfo.

Sports Illustrated laying off all its staff led to me realizing Jezebel was brought back from the dead a month later and nobody reported on it. We now live in a two tiered news system, where people in the right social circles (such as activists or ex-military) have a more accurate info environment.

To weigh in on discussion of a NATO-Russian war, I can say I still am skeptical it will happen in light of the fact that Russia could not successfully mount an offensive to take all of Ukraine now two years ago before they smashed up their military. Any war would likely be fought mostly in Ukraine.

My mentor recommended I post about how our adversaries are using social media for disinformation. I can say offhand, BlueSky is not that bad actually. If you follow the right people, you don't actually see any disinfo, more or less. LinkedIn is a cesspool but the most crucial if you use it right!

New York Times suing OpenAI for exploiting its content means that instead of universal basic income we can all just sue OpenAI repeatedly for stealing our social media/creative content and live off that money after it steals our jobs. Whoever sues SkyNet the most effectively becomes the new elite.
