Been looking into the Minisforum MS-A2 as a server replacement. Bit nervous to buy it to be honest. The machine seems good, but their support doesn't seem to be very responsive. Though I guess people have a good view of Samsung and I've had a horrible warranty experience with them.

Hmm it seems @nmixx-bot.bsky.social failed to sync a post this morning because Bluesky's PDS had a certificate issue. Seems to have been temporary, so I guess it was just bad luck on the timing. Forced the retry and it went through.

I can find pretty decent deals on all PC parts or even good deals on barebone mini PCs. I'm also lucky enough to have some NVMe SSDs. But the RAM... oh boy....

Now that I'm in the process of returning the used Optiplex, I need to find something else. The Mac mini is struggling to keep up. It's only really supposed to be running Home Assistant after all.

Ok, I bought the C5 cable. Good news is that the computer works. The bad news is that it has half the RAM it's supposed to.🤦‍♂️ I'm getting a bit annoyed at this point...

Ok, all the kpop bots are back online. Unfortunately the server it was running on is dead. Restored a backup to that old Mac mini which is where it's running from now. Not ideal. Looking on ebay now to see if I can buy a short term solution. Maybe one of those used mini PCs from Dell or Lenovo?

Well, looks like the whole node has now gone offline. 😭 Unfortunately I can't get to the server in person until the morning to fix it (I need to invest in a KVM). All the kpop bots will be offline for the time being.

Say what you want about Gander Social, but they have been responsive to beta tester feedback. If you actually log the feedback through the correct channels in the app, they open a ticket and respond very quickly. Complaining on Bluesky doesn't count even though I've done that myself.

The labelling is misguided, but after spending quite a bit of time in the beta, I do think they were well intentioned on this. My experience on Gander has been good. The community is rather progressive and welcoming. The people running it are very responsive to feedback within the app.
