2025 — A Year That Changed Everything
A deeply personal reflection on 2025, the year I became a father, lost and rediscovered my sense of self, changed jobs to join Buffer, and learned to embrace a calmer approach to life while looking…

Back in the days, I used to stay up to date with what happens in the Laravel community by just following some key people on Twitter. Now that I've left that platform and moved here, I feel like I'm not catching up on the same amount of information. What do you folks do to stay up to date?

Crazy idea, what if your desk was the PC case. It’s a thick “box” that could fit a lot of components, why couldn’t this work?

I'm due for another iteration of my personal website
rathes.me
and I am wondering if I should try a version that has no navigation at all and everything is based off the homepage. You can navigate my website without the navbar already but I am thinking of removing the top navigation altogether 🤔

Any parents that work on side projects? How do you manage that? I would love to work on some of mine but the last few weeks if not months, I've just been too tired at the end of the day 😴😪 😅

I’m currently using purely Claude Code in the terminal and then only use Cursor for reviewing these changes and sometimes make quick manual changes. Do I still need Cursor then? 🤔 Is there anything I can do with Cursor here that would improve my flow?

I've been going for early morning runs (waking up at 5:30am and out at 6am) and while my running hasn't improved, I had a really nice side effect: I can kinda handle the cold better than I did before 🙈 I'll take that as a win!

Anyone's started writing their Year in Review posts? I think mine this year will be a different one compared to the previous ones. I've started to enjoy writing more about my reflections so this Year in Review post will be going in that directions as well.

Similar to what I did with
todos.aheenam.com
, I’m really inclined to build a fully stripped down version of Notion. Just for writing and organising it. Not AI stuff, no calendar or email, maybe not even databases

Shipped a small side project: a todo app for solo devs juggling multiple projects. Built it mainly for myself — to code without AI but also to have a simple enough place to manage my side projects (Notion does not work for me)

✍🏾 New post: My social media plan for 2026, or something like that In short, different platforms get different versions of me. And for Bluesky I think this is where the nerdy side lives — technical stuff, side projects, dev thoughts. What I've been sharing so far anyway.

Since joining

I used to roll my eyes at the AI hype. When my previous workplace announced “Everyone needs to use AI now,” I felt like following a trend rather than solving problems. Here’s how I went from being sceptical to embracing AI tools: ➡️

I need some help from the Laravel makers: I have an almost fresh Laravel 12 application, added Laravel Fortify to it and now want to update the page the user lands on after successful auth. So I updated the 'home' in config/fortify.php and it works after login but ... 🧵

Why something as simple as showing a settings dialog from a macOS menu bar app took me 5 hours to figure out, and requires 50 lines of code for what should be a one-liner.

Just published my first macOS app - a menubar tool for checking teammates' time zones! 🎉 Wild part? Fully native SwiftUI despite never writing Swift before. Claude Code helped me learn & ship it. AI can be easily used as a tool for learning new stuff!
