The Regionalized Vaccine Manufacturing Collaborative (RVMC) has released its first Status Report - a major step toward building sustainable, regionally-led vaccine manufacturing across Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean.

Sterility testing — ensuring vaccine batches are free from microbial contamination — can take up to a month. With new CEPI funding of up to $199,238, USA-based CBio will develop a rapid sterility testing system based on its cellPhoresis™ technology.

New CEPI-funded project will harness innovative microbial testing methods to accelerate vaccine sterility testing from weeks to days. CEPI funding of up to US$197,280 will support Swedish-based Symcel to develop a rapid sterility testing method for vaccines using its calScreener+ platform.

Last month, Health Emergencies Response Canada (HERC) and CEPI co-chaired a roundtable in Ottawa with organisations funding and delivering R&D for diagnostics, vaccines and therapeutics for epidemic and pandemic threats.

Following the recent framework agreement with Fondation Mérieux, CEPI is also partnering with the @ukhsa.bsky.social to support biosecurity capacity strengthening with national public health institutions and universities involved in epidemic preparedness and infectious disease research across DRC.
