If an old mechanic doesn't make sense to you, stop uncritically assuming it's because that mechanic was a primitive attempt at something else. I love this deck so much. It's reliable in following its plan, putting the onus on the opponent to either take out my half-evolved guy or get meteors rained down on them. Granted, any deck that attacks for 100+ on their 2nd energy can do exactly that, but hey, that's what makes it exciting!
