Great day on the trails today. 127 km with friends. Forests, rivers, beaches, trails, and a great meal at a local restaurant. Big Falls, Cormack, Deer Lake and Howley, Newfoundland and Labrador.

I drove my car to work today. I literally cannot remember the last time I did that. I walk in the winter and bike in the summer, and my wife drops me off when the weather is bad. But I actually can’t think of the last time that happened in the past 3-4 years.

We hiked out to Cedar Cove on the west coast of Newfoundland today, where a container ship wrecked in February. Salvage operations are ongoing.

Doing some spring maintenance. Changed all the oils, new spark plugs, painted the bumpers and doors, new suspension bushings installed, and a shiny new set of tires. Ready for the summer!

I got a moose last fall, first time in several years. Just discovered that my tiny wolf here absolutely loves moose meat. She’s 15 years old and follows us around the kitchen whenever we cook it.

One thing we can all do is check local shops for items we want instead of going straight to Amazon. I also go to my local bike shop and have them order stuff for me instead of ordering it on Amazon. It gives them the business and they order direct from the manufacturer, often saving me a few bucks.

I’m switching to SPD pedals on my road bike to make walking easier. I ordered new shoes but I already have pedals. I like to make things match so I disassembled, cleaned and painted them to match my bike. New decals and voila.

So I look up a small part I need for my bicycle on Amazon. $35, not bad. I happened to be near my local bike shop today and pops in on the chance they may have it in stock. They do. $28. Amazon is not always cheaper. Same brand, same part.
