We extend σ⁰π² carbenes to a neutral system, showing H₂ activation via a σ-face pathway near the least-motion limit. Congrats Fei, Haoxiang, Miaomiao & thanks to editors and reviewers! Now

A neutral σ0π2 carbene enabling hydrogen activation via a σ-face pathway - Nature Chemistry
Hydrogen activation by stable carbenes is rare and typically proceeds through π-face, non-least-motion pathways. Now, a neutral σ0π2 carbene has been synthesized and shown to cleave H2 at room tempera...

Our work on two novel Fe(-II) complexes is online. While most TM carbonyl anions with negative oxidation states are inert toward low polar substrates (e.g., H2, PhSiH3), our systems can activate them assisted by a pendant BBN group.

A crystalline isodiazomethyl anion - Nature Synthesis
A boryl-isodiazomethyl anion featuring a bent eneyne-type B=N–N≡C scaffold is isolated and structurally characterized. The highly nucleophilic boron-bound nitrogen centre makes this species an effecti...

Our work on Carbocation-Coupled Electron Transfer is now in Inorg Chem. An α-ferrocenylmethylium isn’t just a carbocation—it’s a masked primary alkyl radical that couples with radicals, adds across π-bonds and C–H-activates heterocycles. New radical route to C–X bonds.

If you were going to teach a class involving photoredox chemistry, and metallophotoredox chemistry, to grad students, what would your must-have reviews be?

TIRE CHANGE: First Mg(I) complex with a Cp* ligand enables facile ligand exchange. Reaction with RONa gives (BDI)Mg-MgOR and Cp*Na. This paves the way for syntheses of many new asymmetric Mg(I) complexes. @angew_chem

For the first time, researchers have created an all-carbon molecular ring that is stable in solution at room temperature, with a bit of supramolecular support.

A Ca(I) synthon with bridging N2 is key to the synthesis of homometallic Ca peroxide and oxide complexes. In solution, the Ca oxide complex decomposes even at -80 C. It can only be prepared in the solid state. @ChemCommun @RoySocChem
