Painted a classic #heroquest skellington this weekend. Have a bunch painted already but it’s not like you can ever have too many skellys. It’s actually a fun sculpt to paint, there’s a lot of implied details that you can bring out if you feel like spending the time.

This is all just horrific. How do I get out of this place? I don’t like it anymore and I want to leave. Seriously, how do I get a job somewhere else? Anyone hiring?

First mini of 2026! The fearsome looking bandit in the center, by Midlam Miniatures. I painted her mainly to be used in my #Oathmark army. I photographed her here with a few soldiers from Northstar Miniatures to demonstrate how well she fits the vibe, as does the rest of Midlam’s line.

Heavy snow keeping me inside today here in Ohio so it seemed like an appropriate time to paint this yeti from Avalon Hill’s 2021 #HeroQuest rerelease. I feel like it will probably get a lot of use as a #Frostgrave monster as well!

Finished the second Fimir from my classic #Heroquest box. Such a strange quirky model to paint. Won’t paint another unless I decide to play the Kellars Keep expansion someday. Painting stone dungeon tiles on the flat integrated bases is a fun challenge, a bit tedious at times, but worth the effort.

A classic #HeroQuest goblin. This one’s special though. He has joined my #Frostgrave warband to help loot and pillage the frozen city. That’s why there’s snow on his base. His name is Grub. Sometimes he also shows up in Hero Quest “The Frozen Horror” expansion quests.

Fun fact; if you ever want to paint Hero Quest hero minis the exact color they were before you painted them, Pro Acryl Burnt Red is the way to go. “I can’t believe it’s not plastic!”

Fimir! Some more classic heroquest. Painted just today. Such an epic looking creature design. This monsters has been waiting since 1989 for a paint job. Hopefully I did it justice!

I’ve been chasing these for a long time, finally found them for a reasonable price. The original Heroquest: Barbarian Quest minis. They need a little tlc and some superglue but I think they will paint up nicely.

I made a few issues of very tiny White Dwarf magazine so my Imperial Guards have something to read. If you take care of your soldiers they fight better.

WIP. I have another weird Rogue Trader era tank. It’s about 80% painted. Needs decals and final highlights. This tank was pictured in the RT rulebook (picture included here). Has it appeared anywhere else? I added a dozer and some other bits to make it look a little more 40K and a little less Joe.

I built this kit from BMT miniatures. It’s based on an illustration from the original Rogue Trader book. I have to have ALL the tanks for my guard! I green stuffed in the gaps, now it just needs paint. Anyone know what this tank is called? I can’t find any information other than the illustration.

Zap and Glerb visit the human’s trading post. Zap is hoping to score a battery pack for his pilfered lasgun but is instead tricked into buying a broken Zenith television. Glerb just tagged along to see what a human looks like, he decides humans are very suspicious and buys nothing.

I painted some scatter terrain for our Stargrave campaign. The two vending machines look fine but I thing a nurgling has been in that fridge.

Finished painting two more @satyrart.bsky.social troopers for my Rogue Trader era 40K Imperial Guard! Man I love these sculpts! They capture the whole vibe of the originals but give me so many new figures to paint!

Another trooper painted today for my Rogue Trader era 40K Imperial Guard army. This one is from Citadel’s Paranoia line and was released in 1987 and cataloged originally in White Dwarf 83. I’m not sure who sculpted this one but his little whistling face is totally adorbs.

Another scifi civilian NPC to fill out towns and space ports in games of Stargrave. This one is a print from Quartermaster3D. My buddy @gojimi.com printed a set of them for me. I don’t usually paint 3d prints, it’s weird, so light, like painting air. Cool sculpt though, and quick to paint.

I took a short break from my Imperial Army to work on a project that I have to keep super secret for a bit still. That’s finished now so back to painting my rogue trader era guard army! Here’s a mini from Citadel’s Paranoia range circa 1987. This trooper is equipped with an RXD pattern heavy las.

I painted these Stargrave miniatures a few years ago. I used them as PDF officers (NPCs) in a few scenarios we played. I’d like to try and paint a few more in my guard regiment colors and recruit them into my 40K army. Maybe I could kit bash in some old school lasguns to help them fit the part.

A few plastic 2nd edition space marines I painted up as Hawk Lords (Ultramarine successor chapter, unknown founding). They might be an army someday, that was the plan anyway. Seeing @wib.bsky.social’s recently completed Lamenters army got me thinking about painting up the rest of them.

I finished the sergeant for the squad I’ve been chipping away at. Now just need my heavy and special weapons duders and I’ll have another 10 man squad completed for my #roguetrader era guard army. This mini is hand sculpted and cast in metal by @satyrart.bsky.social. It was a joy to paint.

Does anyone have recommendations for good synthetic brushes? I’ve used Windsor and Newton series 7 sable brushes for ages but I’m looking for a cruelty free alternative. I’ve tried quite a few synthetics and so far nothing is remotely comparable.

Found someone in the US that carried K&M trees. And they threw in surprise free dice as a thank you! Kick ass indeed! K&M, as far as I understand, is the brand of trees used in early White Dwarf magazine photos. Will get them based up soon and bring the rogue trader vibes to my photos. :)

I don’t think I was ever that keen on the Chimera’s design, and it definitely didn’t fit the aesthetic of my Rogue Trader era guard army. So lots of fussing, some after market parts, a custom made shortened Rhino view port, and about half the rivets removed and… I guess I like it a little more.

Fogou makes the best terrain around. I don’t quite understand what this resin they use is, but it’s some sort of magic, it’s simply a joy to paint. (I usually hate painting resin!) And the sculpts have so much character! This is must have terrain for sci-fi or post apocalyptic gaming!
