Today a friend and I hosted the inaugural meeting of a non-fiction book club at the indie bookstore I work at. It’s called Pages for Progress and it’s focused on reading books to educate ourselves on how to be better activists within our own communities. I’m so proud and my heart is so full.

Working at a bookstore is wild because even if you get a reputation as a “woke” bookstore, people sometimes wander in and make it past the progress flag on the door, the permanent banned books, climate crisis, gender, and queer book displays, and then still act shocked when you say you mostly 1/2

Don’t give in to that little voice that wants you to feel guilty for feeling hope this morning. Sit with the hope for a minute. Remind yourself that good things still happen.
