Today marked the beginning of the UN Preparatory Committee on crimes against humanity. Sweden, on behalf of #TheNordics, stressed the importance of laying the foundations for a convention to prevent future atrocities and ensure crimes against humanity never go unpunished.

Human trafficking is rising and more children are being exploited. At today’s UNGA-meeting on Human Trafficking, 🇸🇪 Ambassador to Combat Trafficking in Persons, called for stronger global efforts to dismantle criminal business models, stop online exploitation and ensure this crime never pays.

Russia’s illegal deportations of Ukrainian children violate international law, including the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and international humanitarian law. Sweden is working to ensure that the children can return home and that those responsible are held accountable.
