Today is the International Day of UN Peacekeepers. Sweden has a long and proud history of peacekeeping, dating back to the first UN mission in 1948. This #PKDay, we pay tribute to all those who have served in the cause of peace and to those who continue to do so today.

As Chair of the Humanitarian Dialogue, Sweden welcomed @unicef.org Executive Director Catherine Russell for an exchange with Member States on strengthening support for children affected by conflict, displacement and climate shocks, and scaling up action on protection and malnutrition.

On the last day of #WomensHistoryMonth, Sweden proudly co-hosted “Women Breaking Barriers” with Rise, the Spotlight Initiative, Viet Nam & Uruguay. Thanks to all who shared experiences of overcoming violence and expanding opportunities. Progress must be built, protected, and renewed each generation.

At #CSW70, Sweden co-sponsored the Global Safe Abortion Dialogue, bringing together advocates and leaders to advance abortion rights and access.   As Dr. Jannie Lilja, @swedishmfa.bsky.social, stressed: access to abortion is critical to achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls.

Sweden was proud to co-host today’s #CSW70 side event with Mexico and the Republic of Korea: Values, Voices, and Justice in the Age of Algorithms. A timely discussion on how digital ecosystems, platform governance and algorithms impact gender equality and women’s access to justice.

The systematic repression must end. Sweden stands with all women and girls of #Afghanistan. We strongly condemn the Taliban’s persistent erasure of women and girls from public life. Minister for Gender Equality Nina Larsson joined the urgent call of 40+ countries at today’s #UNSC stakeout on #WPS.

Today, Ambassador Nicola Clase, as Chair of the Humanitarian Dialogue, welcomed @wfp.org Executive Director Cindy McCain to the Swedish mission. It was an honor to host the ED and to engage in a thoughtful exchange on the global hunger crisis, the humanitarian landscape and UN reform.

Today marked the beginning of the UN Preparatory Committee on crimes against humanity. Sweden, on behalf of #TheNordics, stressed the importance of laying the foundations for a convention to prevent future atrocities and ensure crimes against humanity never go unpunished.

Human trafficking is rising and more children are being exploited. At today’s UNGA-meeting on Human Trafficking, 🇸🇪 Ambassador to Combat Trafficking in Persons, called for stronger global efforts to dismantle criminal business models, stop online exploitation and ensure this crime never pays.

Russia’s illegal deportations of Ukrainian children violate international law, including the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and international humanitarian law. Sweden is working to ensure that the children can return home and that those responsible are held accountable.
