I think the frustration with DC journalism specifically comes from the press conferences we see. The press absolutely refuses to have each others' backs and lets too many questions go effectively unanswered with no pushbook. Also, too many stories get held for eventual books.

Compared to both the cartoon and the Archie comics, this movie was a masterclass in elevating the source material. There's no reason to expect this movie to be anywhere near as excellent as it is. Anyone that's written it off without actually seeing it needs to give it a shot.
