I must be the stupidest person on the planet. I did NOT get the hype for this movie. I really liked the first half, but didn't like the genre change.

I'm sure that it is said of nearly any Trek movie (save for Section 31), but I really think that Star Trek The Motion Picture is the most underrated entry in the series. I can't think of another Trek movie that fulfills the promise of "to explore strange new worlds;
