I've been annoyed with notetaking apps for a while. And after 5-10 false starts... I think I figured out what to build. It's not a markdown editor, and it's not an all-in-one solution. But it's (hopefully) a really cool and powerful idea. Curious what y'all think:

🔥 The MacOS Stickies app is so underrated. - Little floating windows to take notes throughout the day - Can pin/float on top of whatever you're doing - Can color-coat to organize thoughts ...Probably hasn't been changed since the 90s, but you can't knock stable software

🔥 Mingcute has been my go-to icon library for a while. - Open source and open license - "Cute" and bubbly icon style with more options than most - Really nice Figma plugin - Iconify support to use in any web project

💡 Ever need to match keyboard shortcuts across platforms, like "CmdOrCtrl+Enter?" Electron has this, but I weirdly couldn't find a package for web-standard KeyboardEvents. So I made one! > npm i keymatch

Man, I just love modeling state in @svelte.dev 🧡 - State vars are just properties on a class - Complex values, like this cursor position, can be $derived from other state. Svelte figures out when to recompute - Go-to definition shows all the usages of that state too

Everyone: No, GitHub Desktop is better! No, VS Code! Me: ...I just use `git add -p`. Walks you through each change, hunk for hunk, and lets you accept with `y`. It’s like a mini code review before you commit. Pair that with dandavison/delta, and you get syntax highlighting too 👀

My markdown editor now supports _all_ ~the~ ==marks==. Took no time to support thanks to Prosemirror plugins. Nice to find a solution that generalizes!

I'm so frustrated by AI devs saying "markdown specs" and "plain English" are the future of programming. No they're not. I think in diagrams, in mockups, in whiteboard sessions. The future should be way, way more visual than whatever we're doing right now with agentic chatbots
