For years now I've pushed for Humanists to be able to marry as Humanists. Finally, the Government's recognised this need. I'll push them to crack on with this policy, which we can all say 'I do' to 😉 💍

I am glad the FCDO has sanctioned some of those linked to the illicit gold trade in Sudan. Gold can seem like a 'safe haven' asset but illegal mining fuels insecurity in many countries. More must be done to disrupt supply chains and protect those harmed by this damaging trade.

ICYMI, I recently spoke on the need both for a ban on trade with illegal settlements and for action against the proposed E1 settlement. E1 would destroy any prospect of a two-state solution. I called on the government to make clear how it would act against any companies participating in it.

The use of illegally modified e-bikes is becoming increasingly dangerous across Oxford. It was a pleasure to discuss this issue with the Bicycle Association who’ve been working to promote legal and safe e-bikes and counter illegal ones.

In May I visited Chad to see Sudan’s displacement crisis and how Action Against Hunger is helping people survive. I promised the refugees I met that I'd take their stories home with me. This week I reported back in London - calling for international action to stop the brutal war on civilians.

I know many of my constituents will welcome this week’s announcement on social media protections for young people. A midnight curfew and restrictions on limitless scrolling will help with better sleep, concentration, and time spent face-to-face with family and friends.

A unitary greater Oxford is the best option for our city. ✅ Good for our economy ✅ Good for strong local public services ✅ Good for affordable homes ✅ Good for democracy And the 3 council model is good for Banbury (and the rest of Oxfordshire) too!

Was great to meet with Keyaan and discuss the role of young carers. It’s so important these special but often overlooked young people get the support they need. In that conversation, it was good to discuss the work the charity Be Free Young Carers does in Oxford.
