1.Pete's mom was off-panel like the rest of the families. Family was important to how the characters developed, but I wanted them offstage, rarely heard, isolating the boys.
2. Bill's dad abandoned them
3. Grounded and sent away to college.
4. Decent, but parents were busy/away a lot.
