Received the book and have to say its quality is really good. Thick spine, good weighted paper with a nice feel, crisp printing, layout is superb along with a quick section tab on the right pages. Bonus is the artwork!

I also currently see a 15% coupon which drops the price to $9.74, but insure how widely that coupon offer shows up. I paid just over $12 last week for my copy.

@boardgamehottakes.bsky.social Tim made a great point in Episode265 this week about cash grabs. I really dislike how flippantly gamers say cash grab because a publisher uses a popular brand on a new product. A cash grab is putting out crap and knowing it’s crap, not savvy marketing.

I played this a few times and enjoyed it, and it has some interesting concepts going on.

Texas GOP stealing Dem seats & pushing out flimsy excuses for why is making me excessively angry. I accept the lack of fair representation in my home city but scaling this to the state/US level is essentially creating a single party system (which was expected, unfortunately).

At this price it is worth getting for the updated cards and character boards (e.g., Prince John’s win condition is now better balanced).

Good twist on a 2-player lane battler with artwork that brings back memories of games from the 60s/70s my parents owned. $20 is a steal given gameplay and component quality, and the insert is typical Keymaster top-notch stuff.

Top2 expansion set for me, with the other being Japan/Italy (I’m omitting “base games” like Europe/Nordic/Germany/R&S as not being expansions). Both maps implement interesting changes, and that UK map is extra tight.

Anyone who enjoys card games should own this.

Fantastic worker placement game, great components, and with the expansions included there is plenty of gameplay in this version (especially at this price).

Introduced our 8-year old grandson to Flip7 and My Lil’ Everdell, and he seemed to really enjoy both. It was good watching him learn a few foundational game mechanisms.

It’s definitely more than just a kids game as our adult kids love to play it during family gatherings. I prefer the winter version but the standard is still a lot fun.

My wife crushed me in Expeditions 79-35. I needed meteorite cards to synergize with my character and only a few came out the entire game, and the sweep action was on the opposite site of the map. #Boardgames

Throwing my support for Gnoming Around. I grew up in the 70s/80s playing “golf” with my grandmother and this brings back good memories in a more sophisticated gameplay. It’s a solid 2-player game.

I prefer this to Point Salad because the decisions seem more interesting and the card types become more advanced as the game progresses through three eras. The variable bonus scoring tokens keep things interesting too. Also, <$20 is same as the Kickstarter price.

King Candy has a unique movement mechanic, which I have yet to play as myself but have played against him twice. Shere Khan is less interesting to me, somewhat of a hybrid of play-style to Gaston & Lotso. But for <$10 this is a good addition to the series.

$35 for the gameplay is a great value, but when factoring the amount of wooden components and cards it is an absolute steal at that price.

This is a really good and meaty episode. I relistened to it yesterday while doing yard work.

First game of #Finspan with my wife and I won 102-93. Of the series, Wyrmspan is still my favorite but I look forward to trying Finspan again and trying different strategies.

My wife and I played #OneCardWonder and #Jaipur #boardgames last night, with her winning OCW while I took Jaipur (sure wish I had the sneaky panda bear version of Jaipur though). We really like how quickly both play.

Great peek behind the curtain. Wish some of the grumpy backers of Endeavor Deep Sea would listen to this episode to hear how Marc runs GGG, and hopefully they come away with some measure of empathy.

I like how this version adds more strategy vs other TTR versions, and the tension of “how long can I get away with waiting to build a port there” is a nice addition. Plus the Great Lakes map is really fun at three players.

Under $60 is amazing value. We went through this about a year ago as for players and enjoyed every one of the dozen episodes. The legacy aspects were done well and decisions were fun. Zero issues reading/seeing everything despite this being a table hog.

First try at ever painting minis; these are from Bardsung. I primed with a coat of black and then a coat of grey, and then followed up with a light dry brush of white. I used Army Painter Speedpaint 1.0. I’m happy with the results and looking forward to improving with each model.

Going to try my hand at painting some board game miniatures from my collection. I’m not artistic with drawing/painting so fingers crossed. After watching a lot of YouTube videos, I feel confident enough though to go for it.

We recently got this version and have a great time playing at three players. I’d really like to play it with six to get more laughs and for every choice having more weight. $20 is a steal/bargain.
