These two images were used as test graphics in Pikmin 2. It is unknown what there were a test for. The astute among you may recognize the characters from the Namco arcade game Mappy. It is unknown why the Pikmin 2 devs used Mappy as a test image.

Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition has the larger Rayman sprites in their original resolution and colors but they're unused! (Some are duplicated or have different color palettes.) I believe some of these were in those educational PC games but they had less colors..? 🤔

I've been thinking about this thing again, back when the 2DS was new, someone on the Nintendo Life forums mocked this up, based on the fact the 2DS's screen is actually all one big touchscreen with a bezel over it. I still wish it had really existed, it turns it into kind of a cute lil gaming tablet
