i miss when books were books and not just rebranded fanfic. don’t get me wrong, i love fanfic, but it really sucks when every modern queer lit i picked up is very clearly fanfic with names changed. its like when the radio is all remixes. there’s a reason i went for a book and not fanfic.

i gain incredible joy in making my betas laugh but as for a single specific line i am at a blank. that being said i do think i manage at LEAST one lil funny time joke in every piece. it’s very hard not to, which that goro akechi guy being the mess that he is

“testing the depth”, which started as a mind spill that was nearly a full outline. one of my goals after “know your enemy” was to be so practiced at writing sex scenes that i could pour them fairly easily — “depth” is my fourth finished work in that rating. it *definitely* gets easier with practice.

definitely “know your enemy”. i had only written one explicit work beforehand and the notes had been scattered across multiple docs over the years. i had a lot of witty dialogue exchanges i wanted to keep but the flow was weird. writing sex scenes is hard. however, did manage it!

i wrote “to the stars” which was originally 4.4k, with the goal of trimming to less than 3k for zine apps. with a lot of generous edits, cuts, and help from my betas, i managed a complete story in 2.7k. i then finished “letter for letter” which is even shorter!

i made a goal for 2024 to finish five existing wips, which i did manage to do! in total, i finished five wips and one zine piece (not yet posted) but progressed around fourteen total pieces.
