1/4 Well look at that. Open Ai and Google outright reject “Opt-Out” models, hell they even reject basic transparency requirements. AI companies demand they get everything, including our Intellectual Property, for free, and without anyone ever being able to tell the companies no.

esp with regard to THAT ONE PICTURE there's something insane abt real human beings putting years of hard work into creating art that's complex & humanistic only to have that fed into a machine & used for fascist propaganda

Pinterest, an app where most of the content is unauthorized reposts of other people’s copyright protected work, is developing generative AI and they think offering a hidden OPT-OUT toggle is good enough? “Use your data […]” Whose data??

"No Other Land," the Palestinian-Israeli made film showing the destruction of the occupied West Bank's Masafer Yatta by Israeli soldiers, just won the Oscar for Best Documentary. It can't get a distributor in the US. Which tells you everything about censorship in the US.

1/8 Fun update on that GenAi Christies show. They lie quite a bit about their own show. Here’s a few: Lie #1 Christies says work on the show comes from data which was trained on participants own inputs in this article below:

This just isn’t the case.

So, I wrote a book that argues that protection against extreme economic inequalities (namely, freedom from poverty and limits to wealth) is a key condition of epistemic reliability of institutional systems. Hope some of you will find it interesting!

2/6 and what the hell do you mean this division of the goverment cannot hire illustrators, but can hire one of the largest ad agencies in the world, who had more than enough resources to hire a small team of artists to do this asap?! This is embarrassing and a terrible look for all involved.

I can never understand why children's books get left out of "great book" lists. The books we call "children's books" are really books written for an audience that includes children, but excludes no-one. They are books for EVERYONE - and if you exclude them, you miss the most important books of all!
