Board game designer (The Grand Carnival, Turbo Drift, Zebra) in SLC, UT. (he/him)
pinned post!
Hi! I'm a board game designer in SLC. I'm obsessed with polyominoes and spatial games. I also feature a different board game every week and make a little doodle about it! BGG:

Easy Come Easy Go is the Game of the Week! With just 4 dice and 9 placards, it's one of the slimmest games in my collection. Do I like it more than Pickomino? Maybe? Do I even really like either of those games? Eh....

The Game of the Week is The GAME of Coda! The international code-breaking sensation that I had never heard of until finding it while thrifting. You're taking shots at opponents' codes, pushing your luck or playing cautiously to lengthen your own code.

The Game of the Week has turned 10 years old! I've been making little doodles and playing games at work for a decade. Over 400 games! A used copy of Railroad Ink was a little treat to myself for the occasion. Boy, these lava lakes and meteors are mean!

Rumis is the Game of the Week! Polyominoes are so yesterday, now I'm into polycubes! Rumis (aka Blokus 3D) has you placing your pieces so that more faces of your color are visible from the top at the end of the game.

I was thrilled when I misread it as a Godzilla short film, but my excitement remained at that high level when I realized it was Gorillaz.

Harmonies is the Game of the Week! An ecosystem is complex and interwoven, but you're up for the job of creating one for yourself! Grab landscapes and take care of animals in a hope to thread them all together in a beautiful web of life. Good luck!

Cursed Court is the Game of the Week! Everyone knows this council is corrupt but you just need to know what their plans are. Is a festival coming up? A secret wedding, perhaps? Will something happen at the opera? It could happen today!

**Minecraft: Builders & Biomes** is the Game of the Week! I initially picked this up from a thrift store as trade fodder, but I decided to play it just to handle these gigantic cubes. For every cool component, there is uncool piece to match. Very jumbled production.

Rolled credits on Hollow Knight: Silksong. What a game! Hornet is great, the story was great, the world is great, just all wonderful!

Samarkand Bazaar is the Game of the Week! This is actually a trio of Sid Sackson games that have been reprinted in the same box. They each have a different way to interact with trading in cubes: pure exchanges, pick-up-and-delivery, and blind auctions. You even get to roll a cube! Cubes!

If Wishes Were Fishes is the Game of the Week! The fish market is abuzz, ready to purchase talking fishes by the boat. Who cares if they can speak, or even grant wishes? Gotta get that sweet, sweet cash!

Burgle Bros 3: Future Flip is the Game of the Week! A TNT mishap has exploded the Burgle Bunch into the future. Yes, that's the setup. Chase down and destroy AI to rid the world of their evil. I like the sound of that!

Dice Miner is the Game of the Week! Delve deep into the mountains, digging out treasure and tunnels, all the while dodging cave-ins and dragons. Want to roll 20 dice at a time? This is the game for you!

So delighted with all of the animation flourishes in Silksong. The little ants carrying away their dead, the way Hornet spins after jumping, the flying bugs after running through a field. And it feels so acrobatic! Each fight is a dance and you can attack from so many angles. Incredible work.

Kariba is the Game of the Week! These blocky buddies are crowding around the watering hole, chasing each other away with larger numbers. 64 cards, 8 each of numbers 1-8. Super simple, but timing is a jungle!

Designers who have had games republished by different publishers, how did you make that happen? How did your pitch change from your unpublished work?

Pairs is the Game of the Week! One pear, two peaches, all the way up to 10 onions, this game is so immediately engaging. Push your luck and don't catch any pairs! But this is significant cuz this is the 400th Game of the Week!

Watched Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, had a pretty great time, but was baffled by the performance from Praetorian Jack. Just an empty hole in the center of an otherwise energetic and engaging movie.

The Game: Face to Face is the Game of the Week! Only one of you is getting out of here alive, but you need to help your opponent in order to help yourself. What a cool twist on The Game! Now it just needs a clown mannequin posed as my dead father in my driveway and we're set!

Ordered a game and was very excited about it. While reading the rulebook, I found out AI was used to make the art. All of that excitement turned to disgust so quickly, it was wild. Cancelled my order, can't argue with that gut reaction!

We were really worried about George last night. He kept squatting after pooping with nothing coming out. Eventually he just sat down and wouldn't walk anymore. Turns out he got some poop on his butt. Gave him a bath and he's back to normal. What a drama king.
