The soccer tournaments are done. Everyone was talking about the age brackets. Over the span of two days other parents on my kids’ teams told me that they’ve heard • three different cutoff dates • two different start dates • that it’s staying birth year

When I was a kid I wondered why my mom didn’t laugh at all the testicle jokes. Now that I’m a mom I know that even if they’re funny, you hear so many testicle jokes every day that they are only annoying at this point

One way we’re failing this generation is the use of on-site tshirt printing at soccer tournaments. I don’t want a generic shirt that says “champion striker” with my kid’s name. Give me a Hanes tshirt with a turkey kicking a ball that was hand-drawn by the tournament director’s 12yr old niece

We are still waiting for USSF’s decision today on the future of US youth soccer age groups. Parents and players are left speculating and worrying until we hear officially if we’re moving from birth to school year. Waiting to announce will make this a much more negative experience than necessary
