Today is Giving Tuesday, a day that celebrates community spirit and generosity. We greatly appreciate all of our members and donors, whose contributions help us in our mission for a more bike- and pedestrian-friendly Westfield!

With so many wonderful community events this year like the Mayor's Ride and the Great River Ride, our amazing group of volunteers, and the major progress the City of Westfield has made on projects to make the community more bike and pedestrian friendly, we have a lot to be thankful for this year.

Check out this fun event! Join a solar system walk, led by project creators Kaitlynn and Krystyna Goulette, on a one-mile walk through a scale model of the solar system. The walk starts on Saturday, November 29th at 12pm at the top of the Main Street Ramp of the Columbia Greenway.

Join the City of Westfield's Safe Streets team tonight at 7pm on Zoom for a virtual public meeting! Learn about the results of the current Safe Streets survey, history of crashes in Westfield, and the list of intersections and roadways targeted for improvements. Join at bit.ly/4qyyeuO !

Today is a perfect day to explore the eastern side of the Westfield River Greenway, with sweeping views of the Westfield River, connecting at Meadow Street on both ends. Construction is still underway but the project is expected to wrap up very soon!

These Westfield State University honor students spent a morning with Friends of Columbia Greenway board member Lisa Kline doing some weeding and late summer sprucing up at the planted beds at the Westfield River Esplanade.

Tonight is the big finale of the Downtown Live concert series, and we are so excited to be a part of it! Ride your bike to the Elm Street Plaza on this beautiful day and park your bike with us FOR FREE! We will watch your bike while you sit and enjoy the music.

Our pollinator gardens along the Westfield River Esplanade are doing quite well this summer, and are providing some important resources for our local pollinator insects to keep our local ecosystem healthy and happy!

Finally! The heat breaks, the clouds clear, and it makes for a beautiful day in Westfield. ArtWorks Westfield's Downtown Live concert series resumes tonight and it'll be perfect weather to ride your bike there!

We need your help! Our planting program is well underway, with various planting beds and planter boxes along the Westfield River Esplanade and Columbia Greenway. With these hot sunny days, the planters can dry out faster than we can water them!

On Wednesday June 4th at 9am, volunteers from Point32 Health will be joining us to do some weeding and planting at the Esplanade and we would love more volunteers to help us out!

Please join us tonight for our last bike month event, the Ride of Silence! The ride aims to raise the awareness of motorists, police, and city officials that cyclists have a legal right to the public roadways.

We are here at the Westfield River Esplanade with ValleyBike until 4! Come on down and try an e-bike!

We have another great bike month event tomorrow! 🚲⚡ Stop by the Westfield River Esplanade from 1-4pm to try out ValleyBike! Bikes will be available to test ride for free and staff will be available to provide information about the Valley's pedal-electric assist bikeshare program.

We hope everyone has been having great bike commutes this Bike to Work Week! Tomorrow (Friday 5/16) is Bike to Work Day, and here in Westfield, Circuit Coffee is helping us celebrate! Bike to the coffee shop on Friday and receive a small discount!

We have two great bike month events coming up this week! First is the Mayor's Bike Ride, on Wednesday 5/14 at 5:30pm at City Hall! Join us with Mayor McCabe on a ride through Westfield and on the Columbia Greenway. Stick around for an ice cream treat from Northside Creamery!

This week is Bike to Work Week! Try getting on your bike this week to ride to work, even if it's only part of the way! Now's a great time to try replacing part of your commute with a bike ride, or try a bike+bus trip. Check out the graphics below on bike commuting concerns and how to overcome them!
