If you havenât done this tour, then I do recommend it. Not just for the excellent views from the roof, but the chance to see whatâs just under the roof beams and hear about its fascinating history.

Happy
#InternationalCatDay
! đą Did you know that Exeter Cathedral has a cat flap that is over 400 years old? A bishop paid for it to be cut for his cat, which was then paid a weekly penny to hunt the mice attracted to the Astronomical Clock's grease.

The decline of the high street is well documented. But I was sad to come across the final days of the House of Fraser in Eastbourne. Had a summer job here many decades ago.

Am enjoying John Salvatoreâs excellent book about Exeterâs Roman legionary fortress and capital. Fascinated to learn that the Northwestern corner of the military fortress is outlined by the modern kerb in Paul St/Gandy St.

That was, by some margin, the hardest thing I have ever done. Thighs in agony from Canary Wharf, calves cramping up down Birdcage Walk, but I made it over the line in 4:12:26. Going to lie down now.
