Candlemas is celebrated 40 days after Christmas. It commemorates Mary and Joseph presenting Jesus at the Temple in Jerusalem. Candlemas services traditionally include a procession of candles. Hymns may be sung and candles are lit to remind us of Jesus, the light of the world.
