Are you interested in helping run an NHL Salary Cap website? I am looking for volunteers to help maintain NHL rosters and lineups for the upcoming season. The only requirement is that you are a fan of one (or more) NHL teams and have the ability to enter team transactions/lineups on a daily basis.

I've had a few questions about how much work this will be. For most teams it might be 5-10 minutes per day and some days maybe none. It requires updating lineups on game days and entering transactions (promotions/demotions from minors mostly) when they occur.

For those that experienced problems registering for an account and had problems, I think have resolved the issue. Give it another try and start making your contract predictions.

New feature: Do you want to make a prediction on what McDavid's or Kaprizov's next contract will be? Now you can do that on TheStanleyCap.com. You can do this from either the players page directly or by selecting 'Contract Predictions' in the players pulldown menu.

I cannot stress enough, if you want something fixed/added to The Stanley Cap, let me know. I never witnessed this issue because it didn't seem to show up on large screens (my desktop) or small screens (my phone). But on a mid-sized tablet it did. It was an easy fix once I knew about it.

New Feature on TheStanleyCap.com Each team and player page now has a tab for News/Opinions which includes links to various news and blog articles from news sites and fan blogs.

A relatively small change in the newly negotiated NHL CBA is the elimination of the ability for teams to 'paper' players to the AHL on off days to save cap space by requiring players play at least 1 AHL game before being recalled. This will make the cap system fairer, particularly for young players.

I made an update to the Shot Zone Analytics tool on The Stanley Cap. I added a new 'arc' to split mid-range zones. The reason was I found that shot profiles were quite different inside this arc vs outside. This is clearly seen in the shooting percentage charts. thestanleycap.com/analytics/sh...

Minor update to account for the new salary cap estimates. The Cap Summary Table on the team pages now show the new salary cap values as well as how much cap space teams have in future seasons. Beyond 2027-28 we estimate the salary cap using a likely conservative ~2.5% annual increase.

I've added two new filters to the shot zone analytics tool. You can now filter by close game (The Game Outcome drop down). Close games are games that ended in one goal games when excluding empty net goals. You can also filter by games won or lost. thestanleycap.com/analytics/sh...

New update to TheStanleyCap.com. Team pages now have each teams Draft History so you can easily see how Pittsburgh's recent NHL drafts have gone.

New Feature added to TheStanleyCap.com. Team and Player Statistics have been added to team and player pages. Right now I only have NHL stats for players but I am looking into getting AHL/Junior/European leagues too.

Some interesting salary cap maneuvering to make this work. Seamus Casey and Simon Nemec were called up before Bastian was put on LTIR which created enough LTIR space to recall Bowers, Dowling, Foote and DeSimone after returning Casey and Nemec back to AHL.

Leafs announce that Jarnkrok underwent groin and sports hernia surgery today and is listed as month-to-month. The only question is whether the Leafs will be able to keep him on LTIR until game 1 of the playoffs or whether they have to make space for him during the regular season.

Another update to TheStanleyCap.com. The home page now shows recent signings, recent waivers and recent roster moves (demotions, recalls, IR moves, etc.). I also added a Transaction Search tool.

Two updates to TheStanleyCap.com. First, I have added four new columns (Forwards, Defense, Goalies, Other) to the home page team salary cap summary. These indicate how much projected cap space the team will use for each group. Forwards, Defense and Goalies include players on IR but not LTIR.

A few smallish updates to TheStanleyCap.com -Added contract buyout details to the player contract page. -Tweaked the player boxes on the team depth charts for a somewhat cleaner look. -Fixed a bug in buyout calculator that caused crash when buying out ELC contracts with contract slides.

New feature: Buyout calculator. On the players page and current contract table you will now see a calculator icon at the end of each future season row. Clicking it will take you to a buyout information page buying out that contract prior to that season.

Another update: Suspended players will be shown like this in the team cap tables.

Minor update to TheStanleyCap.com To organize LTIR/Buyout/Buried/Retained Salaries better these are now in a 'Cap Inefficiencies' section. I also highlighted players names red for players on IR to make it more visible that they are on IR.

Awesome news everyone. After a lot of work and late nights the past couple weeks TheStanleyCap.com is ready. To be clear, it is not complete, but the core salary cap info is complete. There albeit a long ready for public consumption.

The NHL season has officially started so here is an update on TheStanleyCap.com. Unfortunately I am not quite ready for an official launch. I need a couple more weeks to get the database fully populated and the salary cap calculators working flawlessly.

The Federal Reserve cut interest rates by half a point today. Salary cap 'savings' on deferred money like Jarvis's recent contract is tied to interest rates. This rate cut it makes deferred money contracts less beneficial to teams and more painful for players so they are less likely to happen now.

The start of the 2024-25 NHL season is less than 3 weeks. The hope is to have all the basic features of The Stanley Cap up and running by then but time is going to be tight to get everything done by then.
